- Cole Palmer has scored 11 goals and grabbed eight assists this season
- Burnley have lost five of their last six on the road in all competitions

Cole Palmer to score and Chelsea to win

Chelsea will look to extend their unbeaten run to five matches in all competitions when they entertain strugglers Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues have been inconsistent for large parts of the campaign, but boss Mauricio Pochettino will hope their recent purple patch is the start of something with just two months remaining of the season.

Pochettino's side are 11th in the table and eight points off the top six, but they should still have too much for a Burnley side that are six points away from safety in 19th due to their inferior goal difference.

Team news

Chelsea's Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Levi Colwill, Robert Sanchez, Lesley Ugochukwu and Trevoh Chalobah are all out injured.

Left-back Ben Chilwell picked up a knock while playing for England and will be assessed, while Enzo Fernandez has yet to return to training since representing Argentina.

Malo Gusto withdrew from the France Under-21s squad through illness, but he is expected to be fit to start at right-back.

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany also has his fair share of injury woes, with Aaron Ramsey, Luca Koleosho, Nathan Redmond all in the treatment room, while Ameen Al-Dakhil and Jordan Beyer are doubtful with knocks.

The stats

Burnley won their first game of 2024 before the international break as they beat Brentford 2-1 at Turf Moor, but they are without a win in six on the road in all competitions.

Chelsea have not lost any of their last four in the Premier League, while they have won five of their previous six at home in the top flight.

The first meeting between the two sides took place in October, with Chelsea running out 4-1 winners.

Prediction

Chelsea's recent upturn in form will give them the belief that they can record another victory, and they face a Burnley side that have been hapless on the road.

Kompany's side did not need the international break to come after their win over Brentford earlier this month, and they will struggle to contain Pochettino's men on their travels.

Burnley will need to keep Cole Palmer quiet if they are to succeed, but that is easier said than done. The former Manchester City ace has scored 11 goals and also picked up eight assists.

He created one goal and scored another in Chelsea's recent 3-2 win over Newcastle, and he was also on the scoresheet against the Clarets earlier in the campaign.

Palmer is elusive and skilful in and around the penalty area, and he is likely to have his say in another Chelsea victory.
