Bristol City are looking for a hat-trick following wins at Middlesbrough and at home to Southampton and will be confident they can pull off the treble against QPR.

Rangers had been in decent nick under Marti Cifuentes before Wednesday night’s 1-0 defeat at Stoke which leaves them firmly in the relegation places.

City boss Liam Manning’s set-up may depend on the fitness of Cam Pring, who missed the win over Southampton with a knock.

With Pring in the side Manning is more likely to go with a 3-4-2-1 set-up, otherwise Hayden Roberts would be retained as an orthodox left-back in a 4-2-3-1.

Manning has the usual midfield routine conundrum with Taylor Gardner-Hickman likely to start having not done so against Saints. Scott Twine could be fit to take the No.10 role.

Sam Field came off the bench at Stoke after a two-match ban but could be restored to midfield at Ashton Gate. Chris Willock may also get a start as Cifuentes makes changes given the quick turnaround.

Bristol City and QPR sit in the bottom two places in the Over/Unders table, their games averaging 2.31 and 2.28 goals respectively.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, when they met at Loftus Road in November the match ended 0-0.

City have lost only one of their last eight, Rangers have lost one of their last five.

Prediction

QPR are at a massive disadvantage having had 24 hours less to prepare for this trip.

They were losing 1-0 at Stoke on Wednesday, a day after Bristol City were beating Southampton 3-1 in one of their best results of the season.

At this stage of such a hectic campaign, two road trips in such a short space of time does Rangers no favours and adds to the sense that City look the bet.

In fairness to QPR they are showing signs of recovery under Cifuentes though they will be tired after chasing the game at Stoke where they had loads of possession in the second half but could not muster a single effort on target.

That lack of potency in attack is proving a real millstone, especially as they head west to take on a City side who are in great form.

One defeat in eight sounds okay but is even better when you consider that sequence of fixtures includes trips to Nottingham Forest and Coventry and home games against West Ham, Forest, Leeds (that was the one defeat, 0-1) and Southampton.

And Manning’s hugely-improved group were simply too good for a Saints side who were on a 25-match unbeaten streak.
