Bournemouth to win

Bournemouth will be delighted to be looking at a mid-table finish to the Premier League season after staying up in the closing stages last year, and they will be hoping to build on their midweek win at Wolves when they entertain Brighton on Sunday.

The visitors have been struggling on the road and also have to pick themselves up after they suffered a 4-0 home defeat to title-chasing Manchester City on Thursday.

Team news

Bournemouth will be without Milos Kerkez after he was sent off in the midweek win at Wolves, and Mark Travers could get another opportunity to impress in goal.

Brighton midfielders Billy Gilmour and James Milner face late fitness tests, but the Seagulls will be without Pervis Estupinan, Evan Ferguson, Jack HInshelwood, Solly March and Kauro Mitoma.

The stats

Six of Bournemouth’s last eight matches have finished with both teams scoring.

Brighton have won only one of their last 11 Premier League away games.

Bournemouth have lost just two of their last 12 league matches at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries have kept four clean sheets in 17 home league outings.

Brighton are without a win in their last five games.

Prediction

Bournemouth are enjoying a strong season under the guidance of Spanish coach Andoni Iraola, who has settled in well on the south coast after taking a while to get to grips with the Premier League.

A 1-0 win at Molineux was an excellent result as they had to close the game with ten men following Milos Kerkez’s red card, and that was enough to ensure they started the weekend in tenth spot.

Their home form has been impressive and the only teams to have beaten them in their last 12 league games at the Vitality have been Manchester City and Liverppol, so they should not fear a visit from the travel-sick Seagulls.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have been unable to live up to last season’s achievement of a Europa League place, and they have won just one of their last 11 games on their travels, which was a 5-0 success at bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United.

They also have to lick their wounds following a 4-0 home defeat to City on Thursday, where Albion were out of the game before half-time having conceded three goals before the interval.

It seems Bournemouth are still on the up and the Seagulls, who have failed to win their last five matches, may be wishing that the season would come to an end, so it makes sense to back the home team to further boost their points tally.
