A huge Championship match takes place at Ewood Park on Tuesday evening, as relegation-threatened pair Blackburn and Millwall clash in Lancashire.

Both teams have collected 39 points and have a -13 goal difference this season, with 17th-place Rovers one place ahead of the Lions heading into this crucial fixture.

With just a one-point gap to the relegation zone, the fight for survival looks set to go down to the wire, and a victory at Ewood Park for either side would be a massive result.

Team news

Blackburn have been without Ryan Hedges since the Norwich draw towards the end of February due to a groin issue, and he will be assessed ahead of this game, while Semir Telalovic missed the weekend's defeat at Swansea due to illness and is a doubt.

Sondre Tronstad also missed the trip to Wales due to an ankle problem, and it remains unclear whether he will have recovered in time to play a part in this contest.

Joe Rankin-Costello, John Fleck and Hayden Carter are all still sidelined, while Harry Leonard is pushing for a return, although this match may come too soon for him.

Millwall's attacking issues were added to following the news Tom Bradshaw is expected to miss the rest of the season because of an Achilles injury, joining fellow striker Kevin Nisbet on the sidelines.

Defender Shaun Hutchinson also remains out with a calf issue.

The stats

Blackburn are yet to taste success under new manager John Eustace, with the ex-midfielder in the stands when Rovers beat Stoke a day after his appointment was confirmed.

Since Eustace has been in the dugout, Rovers have lost three and drawn three of his six matches at the helm, five of those coming in the Championship and one in the FA Cup.

Sammie Szmodics has been in sublime form for Blackburn this season, scoring a Championship-leading 19 goals from 33 appearances.

Millwall have won back-to-back games heading into this clash, beating Southampton 2-1 at St Mary's before edging past Watford 1-0 last time out.

The Lions have scored just 34 goals in the league; only the three teams in the relegation zone have managed fewer.

Prediction

With both teams embroiled in the relegation battle and desperate for points, this is a hard game to call and the match markets back that up, with Blackburn 23/20 to win with LiveScore Bet and Millwall 21/10.

Rovers' performances since Eustace was appointed have not been bad, and there is the feeling a victory is not far away, but it is hard to back them with much confidence, especially against an opponent who are going for a third win in a row.

With that in mind, the play here is to look at the anytime scorer market, and Ewood Park star Szmodics presents great value to find the back of the net for the 20th time in the league this season.

The English striker has bagged in his last two outings, against Newcastle in the FA Cup and Swansea in the Championship, while he has netted eight times in his previous eight home appearances.
