Chelsea want to sign Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku to cure their goalscoring woes

Chelsea are plotting a sensational move to bring Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku, 28, spent three years in West London early in his career but only made 15 first-team appearances before being sold to Everton.

After firing Inter Milan to their first Serie A title in a decade, the Blues have pinpointed their former player as the perfect man to close the gap to Manchester City in the Premier League.

Lukaku would cost at least £100million but Inter will listen to offers to help ease financial concerns at the San Siro.

Despite lifting the Champions League on Saturday and thriving under Thomas Tuchel, missed chances have been an issue for the Blues.

Last summer’s marquee signing Timo Werner was the main guilty party as Chelsea netted more than twice just once in 30 games under Tuchel.

Now The Mail are tipping Chelsea to move for Belgium international Lukaku seven years after they let him go.

Tammy's time is up

While Lukaku may walk through the door at Stamford Bridge this summer, it is likely that Blues academy product Tammy Abraham will head the other way.

Abraham, 23, missed out on a spot on the bench for Saturday’s famous victory over Manchester City as Tuchel opted to name two goalkeepers ahead of him.

It was the latest signal that Tuchel does not rate the England international highly after giving him just six appearances since taking over from Frank Lampard.

The Evening Standard believe Chelsea would want between £40m and £45m for Abraham, with Leicester and West Ham both keen.

It is thought the Hammers would need that price tag to drop, despite Abraham having two years left on his contract.

Rudiger's contract issue

Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain are on red alert with Antonio Rudiger’s contract at Chelsea still yet to be renewed.

Rudiger has just one year left on his deal after refusing to sign a new one in October when he was out of the side under Lampard.

But the German, 28, has been a regular under Tuchel and started Saturday’s success in Porto.

Despite this, there has been no contract offered and while Rudiger has suggested talks can take place after Euro 2020, it has piqued interest elsewhere.

Spurs were keen to sign Rudiger last summer when Jose Mourinho was in charge and The Mirror tip them to try again now.

Other news

Arsenal want to sign Martin Odegaard permanently from Real Madrid but it will cost them £60m to do so, according to reports in Spain.

Manchester United, PSG and Juventus are all interested in Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez and The Star say he may push for a move.

CalcioMercato believe Villarreal striker Gerard Moreno is on the radar of West Ham, Newcastle and Roma after his Europa League-winning exploits.

Newly-promoted Watford are looking to sign Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, who The Sun say would be available for around £15m.
