Guardiola plays down Haaland talk

Pep Guardiola has responded to rumours suggesting that Erling Haaland is unhappy at Manchester City.

Reports from Spain claim that the Norwegian is ready to make a move, with the striker linked with a transfer to Real Madrid.

Guardiola said: "You have to ask the media from Madrid, maybe they have more info than we have. We don't have that feeling.

"He could not play for two months because he was injured but maybe the media from Spain, and especially Madrid, have more information than us.

"We cannot say he didn't adapt quickly and he was not fine since he arrived.

"It's the level he showed since he arrived on day one. We cannot control what people say. When he's unhappy, he will take his decision."

Unai Emery has spoken about Aston Villa's new signing Morgan Rogers, as he prepares his team for a trip to Sheffield United this weekend.

The forward was bought from Middlesbrough on transfer deadline day in a deal worth £15million.

Emery said: "Morgan is a young player, a talented player, who is from here.

"We were following him, and he played against us with Middlesbrough.

"We analysed him and I think for a lot of things. He's young, his potential is big, he's from Birmingham.

"We added one player in the squad who can play as a No8, a No10 or sometimes as a striker. His skills will be important for us."

Striker options

Mauricio Pochettino has given his thoughts on Chelsea's striker options ahead of the clash with Wolves.

The Blues saw Armando Broja move on loan to Fulham on deadline day.

Pochettino said: "It's a very good thing for Armando to have the opportunity to maybe play more. It's a good move for him and I hope that he can take the opportunity.

"It's important for us to recover Christoph [Nkunku] and today Nico [Jackson] arrived back with us.

"Also, sometimes people forget but Deivid Washington is here with us.

"I think the options we have up front are enough."

Klopp reveals Nunez doubt

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Darwin Nunez is a doubt for Liverpool's trip to Arsenal on Sunday.

The Uruguayan sustained an injury in the Reds' 4-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday.

Klopp said: "I don't know if Darwin is available. After 20 minutes, somebody stood on his foot.

"He left the stadium in a boot and not a football one. Nothing broken, X-ray clear. But swollen.

"We have to see if his foot can get back in a boot. I've not seen him yet, so we'll see."

Nunez has been in form for Liverpool this season, scoring 11 goals and providing as many assists.

Partey cancelled

Mikel Arteta has revealed that Thomas Partey will be unavailable for Arsenal's crucial Premier League clash with Liverpool.

He said: "With Thomas unfortunately we had a little setback a few days ago. He's not going to be available in the squad for Liverpool.

"We don't know if it's a few days or weeks. He felt something in a very similar area and he wasn't able to train the last few days.

"It is a big concern because he was such an important player for us. He was getting some momentum at the start of the season and then we lost him for a while.

"Now we have been a long time without him.

"He gives you something very different and is the only one who can give you this in the squad. He's been a real miss."

Ange looks to future

Ange Postecoglou has claimed that Tottenham need to keep improving their academy ahead of their match with Everton on Saturday.

He said: "I think we have a lot of work to do in our academy. Simon Davies [Spurs' academy director] has put a lot of emphasis there.

"I don't think we have the current production line that other top clubs have and that's why we are investing in other young players.

"My brief is around building the first team, but you can do that while giving opportunities to others.

"This year has been better but in terms of a production line of young players, we're still well behind other top clubs.

"Some of it is around methodology and also opportunity. If young players don't get an opportunity, they might not come."

David Moyes has given an update on West Ham's transfer deadline day drama.

Said Benrahma's proposed transfer to Lyon broke down, while there were also complications regarding Pablo Fornals' move to Real Betis.

Moyes said: "It looks like there have been some problems with the paperwork [for Benrahma] at the last minute. But I only learned about it when I came off the pitch late last night.

"I think there is a chance the Pablo deal will be ratified. I can't confirm if it will or not at the moment though.

"We wanted to strengthen, and we worked really hard to bring in an attacking player as well but we couldn't just quite get there."

West Ham drew 1-1 at home with Bournemouth on Thursday night and will travel to Manchester United on Sunday.

Jason Tindall had good news for Newcastle fans as he stood in for Eddie Howe before the Magpies' match with Luton.

The assistant manager gave a positive update on the fitness of Alexander Isak and other injured stars.

Tindall said of Isak: "He's a lot better. He's improved. Wednesday, Thursday and today there's an improvement.

"We'll have to assess him after today. He's got a chance to be involved tomorrow.

"[Harvey] Barnes, [Callum] Wilson, [Joe] Willock are pretty close. Whether they'll be fit enough for tomorrow, we'll have to make that decision between now and the game.

"Harvey is a little bit ahead of Joe. We'll have to make the right call as to whether we include them."
