- Leeds have won 13 of their last 14 home league games
- Stoke have lost six of their last eight games in the Championship

Leeds to win 3-1

Leeds dropped their first points of 2024 at Huddersfield on Saturday, which saw Ipswich leapfrog the West Yorkshire club into second position in the Championship.

However, they have been formidable at Elland Road this season and they will feel they have a score to settle with strugglers Stoke, who beat Leeds 1-0 in the Potteries in October.

Stoke have won just five times since that success, although the latest was at home to Middlesbrough last weekend.

Team news

Stuart Dallas and Pascal Struijk remain sidelined for Leeds. Joe Gelhardt and Jamie Shackleton missed Saturday's draw at Huddersfield but have a chance of being involved.

Jordan Thompson serves the second game of a two-match ban, leaving Stoke boss Steven Schumacher short in defence.

Lynden Gooch filled in at left-back in Thompson's absence against Middlesbrough and may continue to deputise in that role at Elland Road.

Enda Stevens and Luke McNally are not yet fit to feature and Junior Tchamadeu is a doubt.

Leeds boast the only remaining unbeaten home record in the EFL, winning 13 of their last 14 league games at Elland Road after drawing their first three.

There have been at least three goals in 10 of the Yorkshire club's last 12 home league games, and both teams have scored on eight occasions in that run.

Stoke, meanwhile, have lost six of their last eight league matches and have won only twice on the road since the start of November, at Birmingham, who are currently 20th, and bottom side Rotherham.

Only Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday, the two clubs below the Potters in the Championship standings, have scored fewer goals than the visitors this season.

Prediction

Leeds have answered almost every question asked of them since the turn of the year, and the Yorkshire club must respond to another when they welcome Stoke to Elland Road on Tuesday.

For the first time in 2024 Leeds looked a little laboured in their draw at Huddersfield, against whom they registered just two shots on target.

However, they have been formidable at home this term, taking 43 points from a possible 51, and will be determined to reassert the pressure on the Championship's top two, Leicester and Ipswich.

Stoke foiled Leeds in the Potteries in October but the visitors have lost their last three away games in the Championship and a trip to Elland Road is arguably the toughest in the second tier.

Two of those three recent defeats on the road were by a 3-1 scoreline, the other was 2-1, and a Leeds win of that magnitude is worth taking a chance on.
