Three Lions head to San Siro

England’s Nations League trip to Italy this September will take place at the iconic San Siro, it has been confirmed.

The two teams will first meet at Molineux next month, though that fixture is being played behind closed doors because of fan violence at Wembley prior to last year’s European Championship final.

On that occasion, the Azzurri memorably downed the Three Lions in a dramatic penalty shootout to lift their second continental crown.

Gareth Southgate was scathing earlier this week when discussing the prospect of playing the home encounter without fans, labelling it an "embarrassment".

Southgate said: "We are where we are, we've got the embarrassment now of playing behind closed doors at home.

"Normally when you watch those things having happened abroad, we're all grandstanding about how it’s someone else's problem and how the country should be dealt with — and now it’s us."

Germany and Hungary are the other two sides joining England and Italy in Nations League Group A3.

Thiago and Fabinho hand Reds boost

Liverpool have confirmed that Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho are in their travelling squad for tomorrow’s Champions League final against Real Madrid.

There had been serious fitness concerns over the midfield duo but Jurgen Klopp will now have both men available for the Saturday showdown in Paris.

#Thiago, 31, was forced off during the Reds’ Premier League victory over Wolves last Sunday but has returned to training in recent days without any issues.

Meanwhile, Brazilian Fabinho, 28, has not been involved since May 10 against Aston Villa but is in contention to feature at the Stade de France.

World Cup qualifier made free-to-air

Sky Sports have announced that Wales’ decisive World Cup play-off clash with either Scotland or Ukraine next Sunday will be broadcast on free-to-air channels.

A short statement read: "On Sunday 5 June, everyone in the UK will be able to watch Wales take on either Scotland or Ukraine in the FIFA World Cup play-off final. 

"The important fixture will see the winner securing a place at the FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar this November and will be available free to air on ITV in England, S4C in Wales and STV in Scotland, following agreements between Sky Sports and the British public service broadcasters."

Steve Clarke’s Scots host Ukraine at Hampden Park on Wednesday, more than two months on from the original clash being postponed due to the visitors’ ongoing conflict with Russia.

Yarmolenko among West Ham exits

West Ham have announced that Andriy Yarmolenko is among four first-team players ending their stint in East London this summer. 

The Ukrainian winger, 32, ends a mixed four years at the London Stadium having netted memorable strikes against Aston Villa and Sevilla in the closing months of the campaign. 

He follows club captain Mark Noble out of the door, with the popular midfielder hanging up his boots after 18 seasons having made 550 appearances for the Hammers. 

Defender Ryan Fredericks and goalkeeper David Martin have also been released.
