The best halfway line goals after Kane's Bayern stunner

Harry Kane's 13th Bayern Munich goal was probably his most special as the England captain scored from inside his own half in an 8-0 win over Darmstadt.

The former Tottenham striker was fed by Thomas Muller on the counter-attack before sensationally lobbing the goalkeeper from all of 55 yards out.

In honour of the screamer, we look at the best goals from halfway.

David Beckham (Manchester United vs Wimbledon, 1996)

David Beckham's effort for Manchester United against Wimbledon was the first of its kind in the Premier League.

After a loose ball trickled into his path, the former England captain looked up to assess his options before finding the net with a sumptuous effort that swerved before landing perfectly in the net.

With Beckham still just a burgeoning youngster at the time, it was a goal which announced him as a world star after he produced one of the iconic Premier League moments.

Maynor Figueroa (Wigan vs Stoke, 2009)

Few would have predicted what Maynor Figueroa was about to do when Wigan were awarded a free-kick inside their own half against Stoke in February 2009.

Not particularly known for his ability from long range, the Honduran left-back showed all the technique of Beckham and more as he fired a strike which arrowed into the top corner.

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United vs West Ham, 2014)

Wayne Rooney had Beckham watching on in the crowd at Upton Park in United's game against West Ham — so he knew he had to pull off something special.

And that is exactly what he did, with the England legend brushing off a challenge by James Tomkins before hitting a spectacular long-range effort of his own. 

Having repeated the trick with a similar goal — also against the Hammers — for Everton in 2018, any notions of either strike being a fluke were firmly put to bed.

Charlie Adam (Stoke vs Chelsea, 2015)

Charlie Adam became the latest to join the Premier League halfway club when he stunned Stamford Bridge into silence for Stoke in 2015.

The Scottish midfielder spotted Thibaut Courtois off his line when he lined up for a raking drive which a hand from the Blues stopper could not prevent from finding the net.

Kemar Roofe (Rangers vs Standard Liege, 2020)

All that was missing from Kemar Roofe's stunner for Rangers against Standard Liege was a full crowd to appreciate what an extraordinary goal it was.

Unlike the others on this list, Roofe had plenty of work to do before even thinking of being able to pull the trigger.

That he did as he weaved past three different defenders before brilliantly whipping in an effort from inside his own half in the dying embers of the Europa League clash.

Patrik Schick (Czech Republic vs Scotland, 2021)

The adjudication panel for the 2021 European Championship had an easy job picking their Goal of the Tournament thanks to Patrik Schick.

The Czech Republic striker had already silenced Hampden Park by heading his country in front in a group game against Scotland before he scored a sublime second.

Schick raced onto a rebound from Jack Hendry's blocked shot before hitting an inch-perfect strike on his weaker foot that flew into David Marshall's net and left the Scotland stopper tangled in his own net.
