Chesterfield had to settle for a point on their return to the EFL as Swindon came from behind to earn a point in a 1-1 draw.

Armando Dobra put the Spireites ahead in the League Two opener but Will Wright struck in the second half to earn the visitors a draw.

The home side went ahead in the 15th minute when Will Grigg’s shot was parried by Jack Bycroft and Dobra was the first to react, turning the ball into the net from close range.

Chesterfield appealed for a penalty midway through the opening half when Michael Jacobs appeared to be fouled by Grant Hall inside the area, with complaining manager Paul Cook shown a yellow card by referee Scott Oldham.

Harry Smith headed just over from Wright’s cross for the visitors.

Grigg then fired in a shot from inside the area which was well saved by Bycroft.

Swindon started the second half strongly with Ollie Clarke putting an effort just wide and then Wright firing off target from distance.

But Wright found the target in the 64th minute, equalising with another long-range strike which found the top right corner of the net.
