Watford slumped to a record 11th straight Premier League home defeat as Burnley struck twice in the final seven minutes to win 2-1 at Vicarage Road.

The hosts took the lead in the eighth minute when a cross fell kindly for Juraj Kucka who rattled a shot against the bar before ricocheting in off James Tarkowski for an own goal.

Burnley found a leveller with just seven minutes remaining as Jack Cork ghosted into the box to head Charlie Taylor's cross home from close range.

And the Clarets completed their comeback just three minutes later when Watford failed to clear their lines and Josh Brownhill capitalised, steering in a low finish from just inside the box.

Burnley interim boss Mike Jackson praised his men for their attitude in the comeback win.

He said: "We just improved from what we were doing in the first half, we didn't start as well as we could do, everybody needed to do more — if we lifted it 15-20% we thought we could get back in the game.

"At this stage of the season it is just about finding ways to win games, and credit to them they've done that again.

"We gave them something to get their teeth into and they built on that.

"We didn't play to the standards we have set ourselves recently, but in terms of the response, sometimes at this stage you can't ask for any more. These games are so emotionally charged, you just have to find a way.

"I don't know where it puts us, I don't look at the table — we just move on to the next one now."

Watford assistant manager Ray Lewington meanwhile admitted the fear factor was plaguing the Hornets squad.

He said: "I thought we brought it on ourselves because we played ever so well first half, on the front foot and playing in their half but it was a case of because we have not won in so long there is a massive fear factor.

"Footballers try to protect it, they have seen the clock and the last 15-20 minutes they were almost camped on the edge of our own box.

"If you are allowing balls into the box, however many players you have behind the ball, there will be space somewhere.

"There is a lot of disappointment, I have been in situations myself as a player, but [in the] first half we were really good and if we had added a second it might have been a different story.

"It would need something spectacular [to stay up] but there is more to play for than the points, we have got to play for our pride, we don't want to stop playing and get embarrassed.

"We have to try and perform and to our best, for the players' pride and the supporters. Of course it is a grave position and we know that."

Did you know?

Watford have lost each of their last 11 Premier League games at Vicarage Road — the first side in English top-flight history to do so.

Watford have also conceded in each of their last 22 Premier League home games, becoming the first top-flight side to do so since Queens Park Rangers.

Cork netted his first top-flight goal since December 2018 against Liverpool, ending a run of 84 games without finding the net.

Since Burnley returned to the Premier League in 2016, only Manchester United and Watford (both 12) have conceded more own goals than them in the division (11).

Jackson is the first Burnley manager to win three of their first four league games in charge since Jimmy Mullen in October 1991 (four of four).
