There is a bumper eight-race offering from Ayr on Tuesday afternoon, with the Virgin Bet-backed card underway from 1.14pm right through until 5.10pm.

Here is our race-by-race guide to all the action at Scotland's most prestigious track.

1.14pm - Virgin Bet Apprentice Handicap (1m)

Ayr Poet and Tommy G are former C&D winners and need due consideration but MERRICOURT has also won over track and trip in the past and Iain Jardine's charge perhaps was not seen to best effect here in July when last out.

He had been in decent nick previous to that, including winning here in April, and he has twice gone close from this mark already.

Racing Post Selection: Merricourt

1.44pm - Virgin Bet Maiden Stakes (6f)

Richard Fahey and Oisin Orr have leading claims here with REZ.

The Dandy Man colt shaped well under this rider at Wolverhampton on debut and has since gone down only by a short head at Pontefract in a novice last month.

If building on that turf bow, he is unlikely to be far away.

Racing Post Selection: Rez

2.19pm - virginbet.com Handicap (6f)

TOTHENINES ran well in the Bronze Cup here this month, finishing fourth in his group and seventh overall, having come from off the pace.

Karl Burke's gelding has been eased 1lb by the assessor and takes a class-drop now.

He is not fully exposed at this 6f trip yet and looks to hold a decent chance based on that run here 11 days ago when he had a few of these behind.

Racing Post Selection: Tothenines

2.54pm - Virgin Bet Handicap (7f)

Gweedore grabbed his 18th career win when scoring over a mile here this month and should go well again, but it was hard not to surmise that JUMP THE GUN would have gone close in the Silver Cup over 6f 10 days ago.

He was forced to wait for a run and, once in the clear, led his group home in finishing fifth.

A return to this trip will not be a concern and with Ryan Sexton claiming a handy 5lb, compensation may await.

Racing Post Selection: Jump The Gun

3.29pm - Download The Virgin Bet App Handicap Division 1 (7f)

Julie Camacho's NORTHBOUND won on the Tapeta at Newcastle early last month and arrives here off the back of a good second at Thirsk (7f, soft) on his most recent appearance.

An overdue second turf win is surely looming in his current state of well-being.

Racing Post Selection: Northbound

4.04pm - Download The Virgin Bet App Handicap Division 2 (7f)

ST ANDREW'S CASTLE is prone to having his own notions but he was second behind Northbound at Newcastle last month and if he can reproduce that level of form he will have a chance today.

He won his maiden here over 6f last season and having undergone a wind operation since a tame run at Musselburgh last month, it might be the right time to catch him with the assessor having dropped him 3lb.

Racing Post Selection: St Andrew's Castle

4.39pm - Virgin Bet Free Bets For Winners Handicap (1m2f)

Mark and Charlie Johnston have waited a year to get CAPITAL THEORY back to the track.

The son of Muhaarar showed some promise in maiden company last season and has been gelded since he was last spotted here 364 days ago.

He tackles this extended trip on his comeback/handicap bow and he could be capable of showing improved form in the hands of Clifford Lee.

Racing Post Selection: Capital Theory

5.10pm - Virgin Bet Fives Handicap (1m7f)

A slow break from the starting gates did not help TOMORROW'S ANGEL at Ripon (2m, good) last month but the mare eventually finished third on her second start of the year.

The easy winner has defied a 7lb rise to come out and win again since and from this 1lb lower mark, the daughter of Teofilo should have sound claims.

Racing Post Selection: Tomorrow's Angel
