It is the concluding afternoon at the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup Festival on Saturday and a quality eight-race card includes the main dish itself as well as the Doonside Cup and the Firth Of Clyde Fillies' Stakes.

Read our Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup preview here, while below we get a race-by-race guide to the remainder of Saturday's card at Ayr (1.20pm-5.20pm).

1.20pm - Virgin Bet Handicap (1m)

This could be another decent chance for GWEEDORE to score an Ayr success.

Katie Scott's charge was a commanding winner here in July and put lesser showings at Thirsk and Ascot afterwards behind him when runner-up last time at Musselburgh.

The race he won here in the summer worked out well and Jason Hart's partner is a key player with a replication of that effort.

Racing Post Selection: Gweedore

1.55pm - Virgin Bet Doonside Cup Stakes (Listed, 1m2f)

Plenty of these Doonside Cup contenders have clouds over them at the minute and it might be best stripped back to Euchen Glen (second last year), Royal Champion and PHANTOM FLIGHT.

The last named has a really likeable profile for up-and-coming trainer James Horton and stretched right away from his rivals when winning a York handicap last month.

He is completely unexposed at this trip and looks ready for a rise in grade.

Racing Post Selection: Phantom Flight

2.30pm - Virgin Bet Ayr Silver Cup Handicap (6f)

A typically competitive renewal of the Silver Cup consolation race, with a field of 25 declared.

Any of Snash, Aberama Gold, Good Earth, Oso Rapido and Bernardo O'Reilly could be key to this, but DEVIL'S ANGEL was a stylish winner over this trip at Haydock last month and his subsequent Sandown appearance is not one to judge him harshly on.

He was slowly away and never at ease over 5f, before closing well late on.

Jedd O'Keefe's gelding runs from the same mark and has a good chance back up in trip.

Racing Post Selection: Devil's Angel

3.05pm - Virgin Bet Firth Of Clyde Fillies' Stakes (Group 3, 6f)

Maria Branwell looks to have solid each-way claims in the Virgin Bet Firth Of Clyde Fillies' Stakes

A Haydock winner on debut in July, Queen Me took a sizable step forward to be second in last month's Lowther at York and is a massive player on that evidence for Kevin Ryan with more to come.

MARIA BRANWELL was behind her that day and has been beaten since but her early season promise, including third in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, is not forgotten and David O'Meara's filly could find that softening ground is favourable here.

She has got an each-way shout.

Ayr Gold Cup - see separate preview here.

4.15pm - Remus Uomo EBF Nursery (1m)

Pol Roger has notched wins at Haydock and Thirsk during August and comes here on the up for Michael Dods but ANIMATE is the preferred option for the bang in-form Simon & Ed Crisford operation.

His Kempton third from early last month is strong form and he had a next-time-out winner behind in second when readily winning a Newcastle novice over 7f since.

The mile trip is expected to suit the Shamardal colt and he could be plenty better than a mark of 84 before long.

Racing Post Selection: Animate

4.45pm - Get Home Safe with Thistle Cabs Handicap (7f)

Linda Perratt's hat-trick seeking Judgement Call is a clear danger while Brazen Bolt and Star Shield are solid contenders but LIAMARTY DREAMS is selected for Karl Burke and Ben Curtis.

A winner this season at Haydock and Chester, he was third at the latter venue last month having tried to force the pace in a better race than this one.

He is 1lb lower and down in grade now and looks sure to be in the mix.

Racing Post Selection: Liamarty Dreams

5.20pm - Jordan Electrics Ltd Handicap (1m5f)

Mark and Charlie Johnston's Fairmac does not win all that often (3-33) but when he does it tends be here (two wins) so he is respected as the yard bids for back-to-back wins in this stayers' contest.

Roger Varian's AIMERIC presents as a big player.

The Frankel colt found last month's Ebor at York a bridge too far but that was only the fourth start of his career.

With his previous Chester maiden win working out well (runner-up not disgraced in the St Leger on Sunday), he could sparkle here and ensure 3YO's take successive wins in this contest.

Racing Post Selection: Aimeric
