Trainer Roger Varian has confirmed Teona will be heading stateside for next month's Breeders' Cup.

The daughter of Sea The Stars was last seen claiming a shock victory over dual Classic heroine Snowfall in last month's Prix Vermeille and it had been expected she would return to ParisLongchamp for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

However, heavy rain in the build-up meant that connections ultimately chose to swerve Europe's premier middle-distance contest, which was won by 80/1 shot Torquator Tasso in one of the biggest shocks in the race's illustrious history.

Teona will instead now head to California for next month's Breeders' Cup meeting at Del Mar, although Varian has confirmed a decision is yet to be made on whether the three-year-old will run in the Filly & Mare Turf or take on her male rivals in the Turf.

"It's always been the plan to take Teona to the Breeders' Cup since we defected from the Arc," the Newmarket handler told reporters. "She'll be entered in the Fillies And Mares, but she'll also have an entry in the Turf.

"We'll make a decision later on, but she's in great form, and we're looking forward to running her in one of those races."

While Teona will be heading off to the Breeders' Cup, one horse that won't be is the globetrotting Mishriff.

The John and Thady Gosden-trained three-time Group 1 winner returned from a two-month break to finish fourth in last weekend's Champion Stakes at Ascot and it had been indicated that his next port of call would be Del Mar for the Turf.

However, John Gosden has now confirmed his star colt will be swerving the Breeders' Cup altogether and will instead be rested up ahead of his defence of the Saudi Cup early next year.

"Mishriff will not be going to the Breeders' Cup but will freshen up here and be pointed again towards the Saudi Cup," Gosden was quoted as saying by the Racing Post.

"He's been on the go a long time and to go to California and then try to come back for a Saudi Cup was not giving him enough time between races. He'll probably have the same programme next year as this."

The 2021 Breeders' Cup championships are due to take place at Del Mar from November 5-6.
