Transfer Talk: Dembele on Red alert with Barca deal running down

Liverpool are hoping to snap up Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer.

The Frenchman, 25, has yet to extend his Barcelona deal with just a month left on his contract and looks increasingly likely to end a disappointing spell at the Camp Nou.

Spanish outlet Sport suggest the Reds are one of several clubs to table an offer but the Champions League runners-up face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea.

Sadio Mane is out of contract at Anfield next season and the Senegalese ace told fans he would make a statement on his future after the European showpiece amid reports linking him with Bayern Munich.

Liverpool fell 1-0 to Real Madrid in last night's final to finish the campaign with two trophies, the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, after chasing an unprecedented Quadruple.

And should Mane, 30, decide to move on after growing frustrated with protracted contract talks, Dembele would seem a ready-made replacement.

The speedster has struggled to consistently produce the goods since joining Barca for £135million in 2017, scoring just 32 goals in 150 games after being hampered by a number of injury problems.

Boss Xavi has not given up hope of persuading Dembele to stay but PSG are believed to be favourites to land him as the 27-cap France star is good friends with Kylian Mbappe.
