Liverpool are plotting a second attempt to lure Aurelien Tchouameni to Anfield.

The France international, 23, was a top target for the Reds last summer having starred for Monaco in the 2021-22 campaign but opted to join Real Madrid instead for an initial fee of around £70million.

His first campaign in the Spanish capital has been solid, if unspectacular, making 44 appearances across all competitions but often finding himself benched for big games.

Tchouameni has been restricted to brief cameos in all of Los Blancos' Champions League knockout clashes so far, with Carlo Ancelotti opting for either fellow Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga or Federico Valverde to start alongside club legends Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

That — combined with a strongly rumoured move for Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund — has cast doubt over Tchouameni's prospects and 90min claim the Reds hope to take advantage.

The report suggests the Merseysiders would even consider a loan move, as Jurgen Klopp looks to revamp a midfield that has underperformed this term.

Mason Mount, Alexis Mac Allister, James Maddison and Ryan Gravenberch are some of the alternatives also being linked with the Reds.

But Tchouameni, who netted for France to help knock England out of last winter's World Cup, is thought to be the six-time European champions' first choice.
