Transfer Talk: United enter Rob race as Barca struggle for funds

Manchester United are waiting in the wings to launch a move for Robert Lewandowski if Barcelona cannot afford a deal.

The superstar striker is eager to leave Bayern Munich this summer and Barca have been leading the race for his signature.

But the Sun claim United are plotting a swoop with the Catalan club struggling to balance the books.

Lewandowski, 33, struck 50 times in just 46 games last season to reaffirm his status as one of the world's leading goalscorers.

And Barca's financial issues could open the door for another club to swoop after the Polish sensation told Bayern he wanted out.

Manchester City have already signed Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez is closing in on a mega-money move to title rivals Liverpool.

That leaves United as one of the few clubs who could afford to make a move for the Pole, with L'Equipe reporting that Paris Saint-Germain are also closely monitoring talks.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star claim Chelsea are also considering making a move if they can ship out £97.5million flop Romelu Lukaku.
