Thomas Muller has emerged as a shock target for Newcastle and Everton

Thomas Muller could be on his way to the Premier League with Newcastle and Everton interested in signing the Bayern Munich star.

The 32-year-old remains a key part of the Bavarians' first team, scoring nine goals and registering an impressive 20 assists in all competitions this season.

But Muller’s Bayern contract expires next summer, leading to speculation he could leave after 22 glorious years at the club.

German outlet Bild are reporting that Premier League duo Newcastle and Everton are both keen on the 2014 World Cup winner.

The Magpies are desperately looking to bolster their squad before January’s deadline as they look to steer clear of relegation this season.

They have already boosted their survival hopes with the signings of Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood and have been linked with a host of other names.

Meanwhile, managerless Everton are also looking over their shoulders after a dismal run of results and the signing of Muller would no doubt hand them a boost for the second half of the season.

Toffees chiefs are yet to find a successor for Rafa Benitez, with Frank Lampard and Vitor Pereira the two frontrunners for the role.

Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann’s recent comments will come as a blow to the pair’s hopes of landing the German international however, after he suggested the No25's time at Bayern is far from over.

He said last month: "He is a very important player, especially when the stadium is empty, his emotionality has a special task.

"He’ll manage two to four more years. We make sure that he gets his breaks. Of course, that doesn’t always go down well with the fans."

Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is pushing for a move to Newcastle

Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has told the club he wants to move to Newcastle, who have tabled a bid for the Brazilian.

The French outfit strenuously denied a £30million fee had been agreed between the clubs yesterday but L’Equipe say the 24-year-old is pushing for the move to Tyneside.

The Magpies have also seen a bid for Brighton defender Dan Burn rejected, according to The Athletic.

Eddie Howe wants to bolster his defence before January’s deadline and Burn, who grew up as a Newcastle supporter, is high on their list.

The Athletic also claim Arsenal’s hopes of signing Arthur Melo are in doubt, with Juventus unwilling to agree to a short-term loan deal.

That could see them turn their attentions to Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz instead, with the Birmingham Mail indicating the Gunners will step up their pursuit of the Brazilian before the end of the window.
