Matilda Vinberg cannot wait to get started at Tottenham after signing a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Women's Super League club.

The Sweden international, 20, was a free agent after her contract with Hammarby expired and she is relishing the opportunity to play under Robert Vilahamn.

Speaking to her new club's website, Vinberg said: "It feels amazing to be here. Of course, Robert is a reason why and it feels good to have a Swedish coach by my side.

"I have always dreamt about being the best I can and be the best in the world.

"Dream big and hopefully become one of the best. This is the best club I could possibly be at right now."

The attacking midfielder added: "I'm a fast player, I have a good left foot and I like to go one-on-one, combine with players and, of course, score some goals.

"I would say the differences between Sweden and England is the physical game, more technical players and it goes really fast. I think that suits me — I like to be physical and play fast.

"I know, after talking to Robert, this is a team that suits me well and the way I play. I think it's similar to Hammarby as well."

Born in Stockholm, Vinberg joined Hammarby in her homeland in 2021 before going on to make her Sweden debut the following year.

Her first game for Spurs could be Sheffield United's visit to Brisbane Road in the fourth round of the Women's FA Cup on January 14.

And she is excited by the prospect of getting to know her team-mates and the Tottenham faitful.

Vinberg said: "I look forward to meeting the girls and coaches to settle in and see how it is here.

"I'm also really looking forward to playing in front of you all and put on this jersey. It's going to be amazing.”
