The UEFA Nations League finals begin in earnest this evening as Italy and Spain meet in a repeat of their Euro 2020 semi-final.

As well as previewing the clash in detail, we have our usual daily dose of football content for you to enjoy.

Italy vs Spain

Two of world football’s most decorated countries will do battle in the San Siro when European champions Italy take on Spain in a mouth-watering semi-final.

With home advantage on their side once again, Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri will fancy their chances of securing a spot in Sunday’s final against Belgium or France.

However, La Roja were only beaten on penalties in the July clash having enjoyed 70% possession and twice as many shots as their opponents, meaning Luis Enrique and his men will be desperate to exact revenge tonight.

Ahead of the meeting, we turn the focus on the latest Spanish wonderkid to emerge as 17-year-old Barcelona starlet Gavi looks to become his nation’s youngest ever debutant.

Italian forward Federico Chiesa is also in the spotlight today after the Juventus star was strongly linked with a Premier League move — will Liverpool swoop for the 23-year-old this summer?

It may be the international break but you can still get your Premier League fix today, with two of the league’s biggest stars under the microscope.

Raheem Sterling remains one of England’s key figures having starred for the Three Lions in their run to the Euro 2020 final — but things have been far from smooth sailing at club level this term.

Having started only two of Manchester City’s seven Premier League fixtures in 2021-22 to date, we consider why Sterling’s role for club and country is starting to look so different.

Meanwhile, Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah has had no such problems at club level with the Egyptian having already netted nine goals in as many appearances for the Reds this term.

After yet another breathtaking performance against City last weekend, is it time that the 29-year-old begins to be held in the same regard as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi?

Transfers latest

As well as the above, we always keep our fingers on the pulse with the latest whispers from football’s rumour mill.

Our daily Transfer Talk column leads on Liverpool’s interest in FC Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi and how the Reds are likely to face stiff competition from the Bundesliga’s leading lights to land the 19-year-old.
