Ole Gunnar Solskjaer goes in search of his first trophy as Manchester United boss this evening

Excitement for this summer’s European Championship is rising by the day but there is still the small matter of two European club finals to come — starting with tonight’s Europa League showpiece.

We take an in-depth look at the final between Villarreal and Manchester United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to secure a first trophy as United manager.

Also on the agenda is our daily transfer news round-up, while Beat The Count is back to get you up to speed on all things boxing.

Villarreal vs Manchester United (8pm, BT Sport)

Victory in Gdansk this evening would turn an encouraging campaign into a successful one at Old Trafford — but Villarreal are unlikely to prove pushovers for Solskjaer’s men.

After just missing out on Europa League qualification on the last day of the LaLiga season, former Arsenal boss Unai Emery leads the Yellow Submarine into their first European final.

With a trophy and a Champions League spot up for grabs, English opposition will hold no fear for the Spaniards having already dismissed the Gunners in the semi-finals.

But United arrive in Poland as favourites after smashing Real Sociedad and Roma either side of a tense two-legged victory over AC Milan to reach the final.

For all the positives of finishing runners-up in the Premier League, tame FA Cup and Carabao Cup exits left a sour taste at Old Trafford and Solskjaer will be desperate to land his first silverware since taking charge in December 2018.

We have got all bases covered ahead of tonight’s clash with our match preview.
