Saturday's Championship Bet Builder tips: Lions can overcome rusty Wigan
- The Championship returns after the mid-season break for the World Cup
- Millwall will prove too much for inconsistent Wigan
- McBurnie to inspire Sheffield United
There are two exciting matches to look forward to on Saturday as the Championship returns in full after the mid-season break, with Millwall taking on Wigan Athletic while Sheffield United face Huddersfield Town at Bramall Lane.
Lions to prove too much for Wigan
Bet 1: Result will be Millwall in 90 mins
After a mini-midseason break, Millwall returned to action last weekend in a 3-0 defeat away at Sunderland. While the result at the Stadium of Light was obviously not what manager Gary Rowett would have wanted, it allowed his players to get back in the swing of Championship football after several weeks out of action.
Nor was the performance as bad as the scoreline suggests, with Millwall having the better of the first half and dominating the shots and corner count but making a few sloppy errors that cost them goals.
Those errors will in part, be down to the players having been out of action for so long, but at least the Lions’ players will now have 90 minutes in their legs after taking part in the only Championship match of last weekend.
As is the case with most other second-tier teams, Wigan will be starting from scratch after four weeks out, so the Latics will be heading into a tricky tie feeling rusty upon the official Championship restart.
Bet 2: Over two goals in 90 mins for both teams combined
Millwall are a totally different team at the Den compared to on the road, collecting 22 points from a possible 30 on home soil but just nine from 33 on the road.
They have also scored two goals or more in seven of their ten home games, while third-from-bottom Wigan have conceded twice in five of their ten Championship away games.
The Latics have conceded twice in four of their last five visits to the Den, and the second-tier strugglers look likely to do so again.
Bet 3: Zian Flemming to score anytime in 90 mins
Attacking midfielder Zian Flemming leads the goalscoring charts for Millwall this season, and all eight of his goals have come in the past 12 appearances, suggesting the Dutchman is starting to find his feet following his summer transfer from Fortuna Sittard.
He was a regular goalscorer for the Eredivisie outfit, and all indications are that he will be a star man for Millwall over the rest of the campaign.
Blades can cut through blunt visitors
Bet 1: Sheffield United to win to nil
Sheffield United could hardly have chosen a kinder fixture with which to recommence their Championship title challenge. Visitors Huddersfield are rooted to the bottom of the table and have the worse away record in the division, with one win and six defeats from nine on the road.
Nine of the Blades' 11 Championship victories this season have been to nil, with manager Paul Heckingbottom running a tight ship at Bramall Lane.
Bet 2: Oli McBurnie to score anytime in 90 mins
Oli McBurnie went into the season having suffered a couple of tough campaigns but has exploded back into life recently, with the 26-year-old scoring nine goals in 17 appearances.
With fellow striker Iliman Ndiaye late back from the World Cup following Senegal's run to the round of 16, the goalscoring responsibilities will lay squarely with McBurnie.
Bet 3: Sheffield United to win by two or more goals
United went into the World Cup break, having won four of their final five matches, and seven of their 11 wins this term have been by two goals or more.
Huddersfield struggle for goals and failed to score in five of their last seven matches before the break, so the Blades will be confident of securing a comfortable victory of two goals or more.
