Sandown hosts an eight-race card on Friday
Sandown hosts an eight-race card on Friday

The action from Sandown gets underway at the early start-time of 12.30pm and the action runs right through until 4.30pm with some quality 3YO handicaps on the agenda.

We've got our five horses to follow across the Sandown meeting.

LiveScore Five To Follow at Sandown on Friday

12.30pm - British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes (5f)

Mojomaker took a step forward on his initial effort when second at Goodwood a week ago, but once again there were signs of temperament from him and Pat Cosgrave will earn his fee on board it seems.

As such, promising debutante DUBAI JEWEL is taken for a winning start for trainer Andrew Balding. The Showcasing filly saw her price rise to 105,000 gns as a yearling and she makes plenty of appeal on paper. With those worries about the likely market leader, she has fine prospects.

LiveScore Selection: Dubai Jewel

2.10pm - Sandown Park Supporting Racingwithpride Handicap (7f)

Having settled for second-best in his recent starts at Newmarket (good to firm) and Yarmouth (good to soft) over this distance, DASHING DICK is surely going to have his turn soon.

He'd earlier been knocking on the door on the all-weather scene at 6f in the spring and he remains unchanged on a mark of 72 now. This looks to be wide open on paper but his chance is as clear-cut as any.

2.45pm - Racing Is Everyone's Sport Fillies' Handicap (1m)

Celestial Queen effectively lost her chance exiting the starting stalls at Lingfield recently and, based on her earlier success at Redcar/second at Ripon, she's got a leading role to play again now.

HOODWINKER ended 2020 with a Wolverhampton novice success in December and William Haggas' filly improved on that in her comeback run/handicap bow when a close second at Haydock (1m, heavy) three weeks ago.

A mere 1lb rise is negotiable with further improvement deemed likely and the possibility this faster surface will be to her liking too.

LiveScore Selection: Hoodwinker

3.20pm - Sandown Park Breeders' Day September 15 Handicap (1m2f)

Mascat and Leroy Leroy rate as contenders but first-time-up might be the best time to catch YOU'RE HIRED.

Amanda Perrett's charge bolted up on his comeback run last season at Newmarket and, while he's rated 6lb higher than that now, he is a pound lower than when running a fine fourth in the Cambridgeshire at Headquarters in the autumn.

Jim Crowley is a positive jockey booking and the top-weight is a lively contender.

3.55pm - National Racehorse Week 12-19 September Handicap (1m2f)

He didn't match market expectations on seasonal bow at Newmarket four weeks ago but TOP BRASS retains plenty of potential and could be a big improver now for the in-form John & Thady Gosden team.

He made plenty of the running at HQ in that return run before fading late on. Hopefully he gets more of a seam into the race now and, for the first time, he's got the assistance of one Frankie Dettori in the saddle - the only ride the Italian as on this card today.
