RB Leipzig vs Man City predictions: Red Bulls can extend City’s winless run

&w=707&quality=100)
- RB Leipzig have only lost one of their nine competitive games this season, winning seven
- Manchester City have only won two of their last 10 Champions League away fixtures
- Recommended bet: RB Leipzig win or draw double chance
RB Leipzig and Manchester City both made winning starts to their Champions League campaigns last month and the outcome of their tie at the Red Bull Arena could prove influential as both teams vie for top spot in Group G.
The Bundesliga giants may have seen their six-match winning streak come to an end at the weekend but that was in a 2-2 draw with champions Bayern Munich, a team they thrashed 3-0 in the German Super Cup in their season curtain-raiser.
City come into this fixture after losing successive games for the first time since January and may find it difficult to break their unwanted streak against a home side that have made a fantastic start to the 2023-24 campaign.
Team news
RB Leipzig remain without Dani Olmo, Timo Werner and Willi Orban but have plenty of firepower to replace the former two, with Lois Openda set to lead the line again, alongside Yussuf Poulsen.
Benjamin Sesko is also pushing for a more regular starting spot after scoring three goals from off the bench this season.
Kevin De Bruyne remains on the sidelines for Manchester City but Rodri will return to the starting lineup on Wednesday after missing Saturday’s defeat to Wolves through suspension, while John Stones is nearing a return to action.
The stats
&w=707&quality=100)
RB Leipzig have only lost one of their nine competitive games this season.
Manchester City have only won two of their last 10 Champions League away games.
The Cityzens have failed to win on their last two trips to the Red Bull Arena.
RB Leipzig have lost just two of their 17 competitive home games in 2023.
Each of Manchester City’s last five away games in the Champions League have ended as draws.
Prediction
City got their Champions League defence off to a winning start against Crvena zvezda but Pep Guardiola’s side will face much sterner opposition when they visit in-form RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
The hosts have lost only one of their nine competitive games this season, with their only draw coming against Bayern Munich on Saturday, while one of their seven victories was a 3-0 triumph over the Bavarian giants in the German Super Cup in August.
They come into this game having lost just twice at home in 2023 and they have been able to hold their own against the might of Manchester City at the Red Bull Arena.
The Red Bulls have hosted Pep Guardiola’s side in each of the last two seasons, winning 2-1 in the 2021-22 group stages and playing out a 1-1 draw in February 2023.
Those results are far from City’s only away-day disappointments in Europe’s top competition.
Despite deservedly holding the most prestigious trophy in club football, they have won just two of their last 10 Champions League away days and have drawn each of their last five, making the hosts look very appealing in the double chance market.
