Ricardo Pereira scored a late winner as Leicester came from behind to beat PSV 2-1 and reach their first-ever European semi-final.

PSV opened the scoring on the night — and on aggregate — through Eran Zahavi, who capitalised on an error from Youri Tielemans before firing in from an acute angle.

James Maddison hauled the Foxes level in the 77th minute, lashing into the top corner for his 14th goal of the season.

And the winner came from an unlikely source in Pereira, who tucked in with just two minutes of normal time remaining to send Brendan Rodgers' men to the last four.

Rodgers expressed his delight at both his squad's achievement and the value they have gained from the experience.

He said: "I am very proud. It's a big credit to the players and their personality.

"We just kept going as at times we don't make it easy for ourselves.

"We are a team that is so, so young in terms of European football. PSV are a club with an incredible history in Europe.

"Forty-eight qualifications they have in Europe so this is a great experience for us.

"I'm so happy for the players as they have taken another step to reach the club's first semi-final."

Did you know?

After drawing one and losing four European knockout ties, this was Leicester's first win at the sixth attempt.

PSV have failed to win any of their last 12 home European quarter-finals, drawing six and losing the rest.

This was just Leicester's second victory after trailing at half-time in all competitions this term. The last came against Spartak Moscow in the Europa League group stages in October.

Maddison has now scored 14 times in all competitions for the Foxes this term. Tottenham's Harry Kane (22) and West Ham's Jarrod Bowen (15) are the only English players to have bagged more for Premier League sides.

This was Pereira's first away goal for Leicester in his 57th game on the road with the Midlands side.
