With five games taking place in the Premier League on Saturday, here we run down our expert writer's best predictions for each fixture.

Bournemouth vs Leicester (Saturday, 3pm)

An emphatic defeat of rivals Nottingham Forest suggests that there is more to come from Leicester, but the opposite seems true of Bournemouth.

The Cherries have been lauded for their results under Gary O'Neil, but their performances have been less impressive, and they arguably deserved to lose at least three of his four matches in charge.

It feels like only a matter of time before the bubble bursts for O'Neil. While victory over a poor Forest side is not enough to claim that Leicester are back and value at 21/20, a smaller stake bet on a Leicester win in a match containing over 2.5 goals at 21/10 looks a decent option.

Chelsea vs Wolves (Saturday, 3pm)

Chelsea remain a work in progress under Graham Potter, but they were clinical in dispatching Milan 3-0 in midweek, and this weekend's visitors look like the ideal opponents against whom to build confidence and cohesion.

Wolves arrive without a manager, their captain Ruben Neves and this summer's big defensive signing Nathan Collins, who are both suspended.

Confidence must be close to rock bottom, and Wolves' frontline is patched up at best, threadbare at worst, with the only available forwards all short of full fitness.

The visitors will surely arrive in west London with the limit of their ambition being to keep things tight and limit their opponents' chances.

With so many games to come, Potter may also see sense in shutting up shop once the match is won.

The Chelsea manager would be more than happy with a 1-0 or 2-0 win rather than push for a statement victory, and at 9/2 or 5/1, respectively, those scorelines look the best bets.

Manchester City vs Southampton (Saturday, 3pm)

Southampton are not playing at anywhere near their best form and offer little evidence to suggest they can pinch a point.

City did have the distraction of a Champions League tie against FC Copenhagen in midweek, but not only did Pep Guardiola rest key men like Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden, such was their dominance against the Danes that he withdrew Erling Haaland at half-time for youngster Cole Palmer.

Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva were also brought off midway through the second half for City academy players.

The Citizens followed up their last European outing with a 3-0 Premier League win - away at Wolves - and will expect a similar level of victory against Southampton, with a split stakes 3-0 or 4-0 success looking a sensible play at 6/1 and 15/2, respectively.

Newcastle vs Brentford (Saturday, 3pm)

While Brentford are an impressive outfit on their day, they have a bigger drop-off in quality than this weekend's hosts when things are not quite clicking.

Eddie Howe will be hugely frustrated to have collected only 11 points this term.

But the only match in which Newcastle have been outclassed came away at Brighton in the second weekend of the season - and the Magpies' resilience against Potter's superbly-drilled unit was encouraging in its own way.

The fact that Newcastle then went toe-to-toe with Manchester City in their thrilling 3-3 draw and followed up with a performance at Anfield that deserved so much more than a 98th-minute defeat shows how far Howe's men have come.

Injuries continue to hinder Newcastle's progress but the potential return of Saint-Maximin could provide a huge lift.

The Frenchman would further elevate a side already buoyed by last weekend's impressive defeat of Fulham and Newcastle look a good bet at 13/8 to win a match featuring over 2.5 goals.

Brighton vs Tottenham (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Roberto De Zerbi has promised not to tinker too much with the foundations put in place by Potter but Brighton showed a noticeable increase in their high pressing at Anfield as they looked to force errors in the Liverpool backline.

Playing through a high press has long been a problem for Tottenham, and while Antonio Conte's passing patterns have helped reduce the team's vulnerability in this area they still struggle to evade a well-organised press.

That weakness against Brighton's strength puts the Seagulls among Spurs' trickiest opponents and with Conte's men struggling for fluency, a price of 17/10 for a Brighton victory looks too big to ignore.
