The stats
Wrexham have not faced Cardiff in a competitive match since March 2002 when the sides fmet in the old Division Two (third tier). The Bluebirds last visited the Racecourse earlier that campaign in November 2001.
Cardiff are currently the second-highest scorers in League One while also boasting the second-best defence, conceding just 11 goals in 13 matches.
Wrexham last beat Cardiff at home in January 2000. Darren Ferguson got the winner as the Reds came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory.
This is the first time Cardiff are competing in the fourth round of the League Cup since 2012 when they made it all the way to the final before losing to Liverpool on penalties.

Prediction
After meeting in the same division 23 years ago, Wrexham and Cardiff travelled in different directions. While the Reds dropped down to the National League where they stayed for a decade, the Bluebirds reached the promised land of the Premier League on two occasions.
However, in May the two clubs swapped places again as Wrexham gained promotion to the Championship and replaced Cardiff, who were relegated.
On Tuesday, the home side are the favourites and should possess enough quality to go through. Cardiff are leading League One and will be prioritising promotion over a cup run.
Wrexham, meanwhile, are one of those sides made for cup football as they never know when they are beaten. The Reds have netted a number of late goals during Phil Parkinson’s stewardship at the Racecourse but likely will not need to against Cardiff.
Wrexham should get the job done in 90 minutes to progress to the quarter-finals of the League Cup for the first time since 1978.
