Recommended bet: Draw
Newcastle ended 70 years without silverware by winning the Carabao Cup last season and will now host Tottenham as they look to keep their hands on the trophy.
The Magpies have won four of their last five matches, beating Fulham 2-1 on Saturday, while Spurs head to the North East on the back of winning at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Team news
Tino Livramento is out with a knee injury, as is Yoane Wissa, who is yet to feature since his summer move from Brentford.
Sven Botman was forced off against Fulham, but should be available, though Eddie Howe may opt to rest the defender. Left-back Lewis Hall could feature after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Tottenham are set to be without Cristian Romero for a fourth game as the centre-back struggles with a hip injury. Fellow defenders Destiny Udogie and Radu Dragusin are both out with knee problems, Ben Davies has a thigh issue and midfielder Yves Bissouma is unavailable with an ankle injury.
The stats
Newcastle have won their last six matches against Tottenham (losing once), claiming a 6-1 in April 2023.
Tottenham’s win at Everton was the fourth time the club has triumphed 3-0 this season, also beating Burnley, West Ham and Doncaster by the same scoreline.
Newcastle have kept a clean sheet in three of their last five matches in all competitions.
Tottenham have only lost two games this season, with both defeats coming at home in the Premier League against Bournemouth and Aston Villa.
The two sides last met in the Carabao Cup in December 2014 as Spurs claimed a 4-0 win to reach the semi-finals.

Prediction
These two teams have bigger priorities than the League Cup this season, though, after winning the competition last March, Newcastle know the importance of lifting a trophy and will be taking this game seriously.
Thomas Frank will also hope to go the distance in his first season with Spurs and picked a relatively strong side in the last round as his side beat Doncaster Rovers.
While Newcastle have been strong and consistent in recent weeks, Spurs’ form has been patchy with three wins in eight and so, with home advantage, the Magpies are favourites to progress. However, with the quality Tottenham possesses, it really could go either way.
Eddie Howe and his team will be confident of progressing with the St James’ Park crowd behind them, but it may take more than 90 minutes. A draw on the night looks good value, especially as both teams will be desperate to get their hands on the trophy.
