Millwall claimed their first Championship win of the season before the international break and next take on a Luton side in need of a similar lift on Saturday.

The Hatters were among the teams talked up for promotion but appear to be suffering from a post-Premier League relegation hangover and have taken just a point from their four games.

Rob Edwards may be relieved and ready to focus now the transfer window has closed and his team need to start picking up points.

The Den is always a difficult place to go and with the teams well-matched, goals could be an intriguing avenue to explore.

Team news

Josh Coburn should keep his place after scoring on his Millwall debut against Sheffield Wednesday following his loan from Middlesbrough, but there remains a doubt over record signing Mihailo Ivanovic due to a metatarsal issue.

Fellow forward Tom Bradshaw is sidelined with a long-term hamstring issue, but midfielder Billy Mitchell could feature after a hip injury.

Luton could call upon new signing Victor Moses after signing on Wednesday.

Daiki Hashioka (leg) and Jacob Brown (knee) are touch-and-go to be involved, while Reece Burke (leg), Mads Anderson (calf) and Amari'i Bell (hamstring) are sidelined.

The stats

Millwall's 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in their last game was their first of the season in the league, although they did beat Portsmouth 1-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Luton lost their opening match 4-1 to Burnley and have since drawn 0-0 at Portsmouth and lost 1-0 at Preston and been defeated 2-1 by QPR.

Their two goals scored is the joint-second lowest in the division, while Millwall's eight is the joint-third highest, although they have conceded seven times.

Millwall forward Duncan Watmore has scored four goals, level with West Brom's Josh Maja and Oxford's Mark Harris.

Both 2022-23 Championship meetings between the pair finished as draws, contributing to four ties in the last five head-to-heads.

Prediction

Millwall sit 15th in the table and after finishing 13th last term, this region in the standings looks like their natural home in this season's Championship.

The same cannot be said of Luton, who are 23rd and well off where they were expected to be. However, they still have some excellent forwards, with Carlton Morris scoring 11 Premier League goals last season and Elijah Adebayo netting on 10 occasions.

Moses' arrival will also help and those factors can contribute to an open game.

Of their last three meetings, two have finished 2-2, while over 2.5 goals occurred in both teams' last outings – Millwall's 3-0 win over Wednesday and Luton's 2-1 home reverse against QPR.

Both teams to score is available at 8/11 with LiveScore Bet but on recent evidence, it is worth pushing for a bit more.
