Pontefract provides the focus for Sunday's racing action

Pontefract is the sole Flat meeting in the UK on Sunday afternoon and their feature race is a Listed contest for fillies over 1m4f.

There is also the Pontefract Cup where the stayers will be in action in a 2m2f race.

Here are five horses to follow across the meeting, which begins at 1.45pm.

1.45pm - Northern Commercials Iveco "X" Way Tipper EBF Fillies' Restricted Novice (Div I) (6f)

Karl Burke's filly ALMOHANDESAH made an encouraging start to her career when she was second of 13 at Redcar (6f) earlier this month.

The horse which beat her in the race looks a smart prospect so that form could work out to be even better in the future.

The daughter of Postponed can step up on her debut run and go once place better.

The only winner in the field is May Blossom but she will need to concede 5lb to Burke's runner and is more exposed with four runs under her belt now.

LiveScore Selection: Almohandesah

2.20pm - Northern Commercials Iveco "X" Way Tipper EBF Fillies' Restricted Novice (Div II) (6f)

In the second division of this novice race for fillies, QWICKEN is a horse which stands out as one which could build upon what she has shown on the track to date.

Ollie Pears' runner remains a maiden but she was in contention at the finish in both of her appearances.

Qwicken will be tackling this 6f trip for the first time and it would be no surprise if it suits her as the minimum distance of 5f may just have been on the sharp side.

Favourite Child looks the obvious danger but there is a big weight difference between the two runners.

2.55pm - Volkswagen Van Centre (West Yorkshire) LTD Fillies' Handicap (1m)

THE FLYING GINGER prevailed twice last season, including in a class 2 contest at York.

She has yet to hit the frame on her two outings this season, however, they were in much stronger races than this.

Roger Fell's filly is now stepping down in class and that gives her a good opportunity to land another success.

With this now being her third start of the season, she should be sharp for this contest.

This 1m trip is her best distance and she acts on all ground conditions.

3.25pm - Sky Bet Pontefract Castle Fillies' Stakes (1m4f - Listed)

This Listed race for fillies is the highlight of the meeting at Pontefract.

It is a great opportunity for URBAN ARTIST to score at this level for the first time.

If she repeats or betters her last performance, where she was second in a Group Three affair, she will take some stopping.

Hughie Morrison's runner will really enjoy softer conditions so any rain prior to the race will boost her chances.

The six-year-old is far from a mud lark though. Her Flat form has been rock solid since switching codes and this will be a deserved success in Listed company if she can get her nose in front.

3.55pm - Sky Bet Pontefract Cup Handicap (2m2f)

Call My Bluff is the only runner in the field to have won over this distance
Call My Bluff is the only runner in the field to have won over this distance

Not only is CALL MY BLUFF the only C&D winner in this Pontefract Cup handicap, he is the only horse to have prevailed over this distance.

The rest of the field have question marks over whether they will stay this trip.

Dominic Ffrench Davis' runner scored over this C&D last October. He was also successful on his last outing at Nottingham (2m).

The handicapper has given him a 6lb rise in the weights for that latest win.

This will be a tougher test but he remains open to improvement and he will enjoy his return to this course.
