LiveScore Racing Preview: Leicester, October 25, 2021
There are six meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on Monday, one of which is a Flat card from Leicester.
The seven-race card takes place from 1.40pm until 5.40pm and we have picked five horses for you to follow.
1.40pm - @Leicesterraces Ideal Self-Hire Wedding Venue Nursery Handicap (7f)
Although GRETA BRIDGE remains a maiden after six races, she has done enough to suggest her first victory is not far away.
Tim Easterby's filly was second of 16 runners at Redcar (1m) last time out, less than a length behind the winner.
The Mondialiste filly has gone up just 4lb in the ratings for that near miss but remains open to improvement and this could be the race in which she breaks her maiden tag.
LiveScore selection: Greta Bridge
2.15pm - British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes (6f)
John and Thady Gosden are represented in this novice contest by TOLSTOY and the two-year-old is having his second run since he was gelded in July.
The son of Kingman got off the mark at the first attempt at Yarmouth (6f) but he has been unable to add to that in three outings since.
The Gosdens' runner is the highest-rated runner in this field by some distance.
The cheekpieces will be on for the first time and they should help him concentrate further on the task.
He can carry a penalty here and record the second win of his career.
LiveScore selection: Tolstoy
2.50pm - British EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes (6f)
SACRED JEWEL is the most interesting runner in this small field of novices due to her pedigree.
She is a daughter of Dubawi and she is trained by Charlie Appleby, who is having a fantastic season.
The two-year-old could only finish fourth on her debut at Newmarket (6f) but Appleby's runner should step up from that opening appearance now she knows what it is all about and has been given a good opportunity here as some of her rivals are now exposed.
LiveScore selection: Scared Jewel
3.25pm - Happy 50th Birthday Jennifer Stone Claiming Stakes (7f)
David O'Meara's filly IMPERIAL EIGHT produced the best performance of her career to score at Catterick (7f) earlier this month.
She stretched away from her rivals in the closing stages of that race and the visor appeared to help, so it is no surprise it will be on again on her follow up attempt.
Conditions should suit the three-year-old as she has no problem with some juice in the ground and a second straight win appears likely.
LiveScore selection: Imperial Eight
4pm - Light Brigade Handicap (1m)
Former Royal Hunt Cup winner AFAAK came close to his first success since June 2019 when he finished second of six at Haydock on his last outing.
He was just a neck behind the winner, in what was just his second run of 2021.
Charles Hills' experienced gelding is still 4lb lower than his last winning mark.
Expect to see much more from him as he should be fully fit now on his third run of the campaign.
LiveScore selection: Afaak
