There's an exciting day of Flat racing ahead at Haydock
There's an exciting day of Flat racing ahead at Haydock

Our LiveScore five to follow on Wednesday focuses on the card at Haydock.

1.25pm - Racing To School Novice Stakes (1m4f)

The all-weather races won by Mandoob (April) and Twilight Twist (November) haven't worked out as strong events and they may be vulnerable now carrying penalties on their respective turf bows. The geldings, therefore, are overlooked in favour of promising filly MELLOW MAGIC

Andrew Balding's charge has made the frame in three turf starts up to now and should be scoring soon. She gets Ryan Moore's help for the first time and is a major chance.

LiveScore Selection: Mellow Magic

2.35pm - Watch Racing TV Now Novice Stakes (7f)

Godolphin colt ALBAHR needed the experience on debut last month at York over 6f, running green through the race as he eventually finished third. That experience ought not to be lost on him and Charlie Appleby's son of Dubawi should also be favoured going up in trip for this second start.

He's the form pick, though very close attention should be paid to 350,000 gns Kingman colt King Of York starting out for Kevin Ryan.

LiveScore Selection: Albahr

3.10pm - Pareto Financial Planning Handicap (1m2f)

He was let go by Sir Michael Stoute back in the autumn having failed to open his account in five runs but CHICHESTER has made fine progress this spring for Keith Dalgleish.

He began with an easy win on the all-weather at Newcastle over a mile and most recently ran a fine race in the Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar over this trip - his fourth start for this yard.

He drops in class now and can land this by confirming previous form with Highwaygrey.

LiveScore Selection: Chichester

3.45pm - racingtv.com Handicap (1m2f)

DUBAWI SANDS found it tough going in the London Gold Cup at Newbury last month but that race is usually a warm one and he never quite got into it after hitting a flat-spot.

The return to this faster surface looks a plus for him and he's fancied to bounce back and run a big race for Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni.

December's impressive all-weather winner King Of Tsavo is one of his most feared opponents, though a 10lb rise for that win hasn't made it easy for him.

LiveScore Selection: Dubawi Sands

4.55pm - Haydock Park Apprentice Training Series Handicap (1m)

A pair of three-runner contests bring down the curtain on Haydock's afternoon and MADAME PELTIER can master her two rivals in this closing event for apprentice riders.

She had three next-time-out winners behind when making a winning seasonal bow at Newbury (1m, good to soft) last month and the dual all-weather winner should be right at home on this faster surface. Saffie Osborne's mount is the outstanding candidate here.

LiveScore Selection: Madame Peltier
