LiveScore Racing Preview: Ffos Las, January 5, 2022
The official going heading into Wednesday's seven-race jumps meeting at Ffos Las is 'Heavy', although it may dry out a little prior to the opening contest.
Here are our five horses to follow from the Welsh track.
12.40pm - Cazoo Mares' Novices' Hurdle (2m)
Two-time bumper winner MAYEHM MYA made her hurdles debut in a Listed contest at Haydock (2m3f) last month.
She raced far too freely, which did not help her chances.
Chris Honour's mare is not only down in trip here, but this is also a much easier assignment.
The ground should not be a problem so a much better showing can be expected on her second start over hurdles.
LiveScore selection: Mayhem Mya
1.10pm - Vindico Think Purple Handicap Chase (2m)
TEMPLIER ended a long losing sequence when he prevailed by 15 lengths on heavy ground at Warwick (2m) last time out.
The nine-year-old enjoys testing conditions so the ground has fallen right for him again.
The chaser has a 7lb penalty to defy, but on the evidence of his latest performance, he should be able to record his second straight success on the track.
LiveScore selection: Templier
1.45pm - Chc Countryfair On 18/19th June 2022 Handicap Hurdle (2m)
After switching to Evan Williams' Yard back in the summer, HOWDYALIKEMENOW started the campaign with back-to-back wins at Stratford (2m½f) and Fakenham (2m) respectively.
He then featured in a large field at Cheltenham on his handicap debut but was unable to complete a hat-trick. Williams' hurdler deserves another shot at this mark of 122.
This is far less competitive than his assignment at Prestbury Park and he also has some decent form on heavy ground.
LiveScore selection: Howdyalikemenow
2.20pm - West Wales Raiders Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (2m5f)
Since arriving at Nicky Henderson's yard from France, EMIR SACREE has shown a lot of promise, prevailing over both hurdles and fences.
Last season this gelding contested a Grade Two hurdles contest at Doncaster, so he has a lot of class.
The Seven Barrows runner scored at Carlisle on his penultimate outing in a handicap chase over 2m4f and also has plenty of experience jumping fences, as he went chasing very early in his career.
The eight-year-old looks the one to beat in this small field as he bids to go one place better than his runner-up finish at Doncaster (2m4½f) last month.
LiveScore selection: Emir Sacree
2.55pm - JR Events & Catering Mares' Handicap Hurdle (2m6f)
GETAWEAPON is making a quick reappearance after finishing second of seven runners at Exeter four days ago.
That was a good performance in what was her first run since having wind surgery back in November.
Kim Bailey's mare was unfortunate to bump into a smart horse from Jeremy Scott's yard at Exeter.
She will enjoy the heavy ground, and the fact she lines up here so soon after that race suggests she has come out of it well.
