LiveScore Racing Preview: Ayr, June 22, 2021

Ayr are well into their Flat season now and have a seven-race offering from the Scottish course on Tuesday. 

The action begins at 1.25pm and runs through to 4.50pm. Here are five horses to follow across the meeting on the afternoon card.

1.25pm - Summer Staycations At Western House Hotel Handicap (1m)

Since moving to David O'Meara's yard last month, ARRANMORE has showed a lot more on the track. He prevailed for the first time for his new trainer when he scored over this distance at Catterick eight days ago. 

The four-year-old will need to carry a 5lb penalty in this follow up attempt but it may not to be enough to stop him. His last success was more comfortable than the distance suggests so he remains off a workable mark.

2pm - EBF Maiden Stakes (6f)

There was very little wrong with the debut MONSIEUR JUMBO made over this C&D earlier this month. He went down by just a neck in an eight-runner field and that was after a far from ideal start from the stalls. 

With the experience of that opening run behind him, expect to see Kevin Scott's two-year-old colt improve for this second outing. Beltane looks the obvious danger but he has a wide draw to overcome.

2.35pm - Book Now For Ladies Night Handicap (7f)

There are just four runners entered for this handicap contest over 7f but it is a fascinating affair. The most unexposed horse in the field is HARSWELL DUKE and he makes the most appeal on his handicap debut. 

Liam Bailey's runner broke his maiden at Musselburgh (1m1f) on his last appearance when he was comfortably on top at the finish. 

He is now stepping down in trip but this distance should not be a problem. This looks a lenient opening mark that he has been assigned.

3.45pm - Irish Stallion Farms EBF Land O'Burns Fillies' Stakes (5f - Listed)

The feature race from this Ayr card is this Listed contest for fillies over 5f. This is going to be a big step down in class for KEEP BUSY who has, not only competing at the highest level over the last 12 months, but been performing admirably well in those races. 

The former Listed winner finished fifth of 16 in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot when she was less than three lengths behind Oxted and that piece of form makes her the one to beat here. 

John Quinn's runner looks in great form so her connections will expect her to add her tally here.

4.20pm - Ayrshire Cancer Support Handicap (1m5f)

With four victories from his last five starts, WISE EAGLE has been on an excellent run of form. His sole defeat in that period came in a large field at York. 

The dual-purpose runner has gone up just 1lb for his narrow success at Musselburgh (1m6f) earlier this month which gives him a good chance of adding more glory. 

Adam Nicol's dual-purpose runner is really tough but does not win his races by large distances. This is what has helped him avoid shooting up the weights too much. 

A career best will be needed again but don't rule that out.
