Stradivarius heads Doncaster field

The John and Thady Gosden-trained Stradivarius has been named as one of 16 entries for the Doncaster Cup on Friday. 

Having claimed the spoils in 2019, the superstar stayer could bid for the crown for a second time and, judging by recent form, it may prove difficult to stop him from achieving that feat. 

The seven-year-old's first outing in 2021 resulted in a victory, landing the Longines Sagaro Stakes at Ascot, before a fourth-placed finish at the same venue was followed by a win in the Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes at York. 

Of the most likely challengers to Stradivarius, Alan King has decided to enter Goodwood Cup winner Trueshan into the race. 

Meanwhile, Henry De Bromhead's Lismore, last seen winning the Henry II Stakes at Sandown in May, is another expected to go well. 

Ryan mulls over Triple Time options

Trainer Kevin Ryan says he will speak to owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum before making a decision on Triple Time's next outing. 

Triple Time produced a superb front-running performance to win the Betfair Exchange Ascendant Stakes at Haydock on Saturday and that display has already brought about thoughts of a shot at the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket on September 25. 

Speaking about the possibility of a run at HQ, Ryan said: "I'll have to speak to Sheikh Mohammed Obaid about that (Royal Lodge). He's done everything we've needed to do this year and he's obviously identified himself as a very talented horse. 

"We'll do what's right by the horse. He's going to be a very exciting horse for next year. We were talking about the horse the other day and I think 10 furlongs is as far as he goes." 

Addeybb to swerve Leopardstown trip

Trainer William Haggas has confirmed Addeybb will not be heading to Leopardstown for the Irish Champion Stakes next Saturday. 

The four-time Group 1 winner was said to be in line to take on St Mark's Basilica, Tarnawa and Poetic Flare at the Irish venue, but Haggas has now revealed his charge will not be participating. 

However, the handler did confirm Addeybb would get one more run in him before bidding for back-to-back Qipco Champion Stakes wins at Ascot next month. 

"He won't be running in the Irish Champion Stakes," Haggas said. "He's done himself rather well for a break so we're taking a bit longer to get fit than I anticipated, but he's in good form. He will run once before the Champion Stakes but I don't know where yet." 

Emaraaty Ana primed for US trip

Kevin Ryan has revealed Emaraaty Ana will be aimed at the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint at Del Mar following Saturday's victory at Haydock Park. 

The five-year-old was able to hold off a late surge from Starman to land the Sprint Cup and it appears a trip to Del Mar in November is on the cards, with Ryan looking for back-to-back successes in the US race after Glass Slippers' 2020 victory. 

When asked about the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint by Saturday's sponsors, the trainer said: "I think that's where you have to go now."
