Title parade

Manchester City will parade the Premier League trophy as they travel through the city centre on an open-top bus this evening.

Pep Guardiola and his title-winning squad will depart from Exchange Square at about 6pm BST, travel on to St Mary’s Gate and then south on Deansgate before finishing at the Beetham Tower with a live stage show.

Entertainment at the Beetham Tower will begin from 4.30pm, with the players expected to arrive at about 7pm.

There will be live music from bands and DJs, while former City stars will be among a host of special guests.

The event will be non-ticketed and the club have advised supporters to arrive early.

Rollercoaster ride

Mason Mount insists Chelsea will come back stronger next season after a rollercoaster campaign on and off the pitch.

With the club's ownership saga rumbling on in the background, Mount was named the Blues' Player of the Season ahead of yesterday's 2-1 win over relegated Watford.

And the England international, 23, is confident the European Super Cup winners and Club World Cup champions will be back in the title picture in 2022-23.

He said: "It has been a rollercoaster of a season. I feel like you always say that at the end of a season but this season and the circumstances we have had to go through have been different.

"Yes, we could have done better, we strive to do better, but the way the boys have handled it throughout the season, the staff, us as a club, has been brilliant and we will be back next season.

"We just fell short with a couple of trophies this season and obviously in the Premier League, but we are ready to go again.

"It is a little break now but we know we can be up there, we know we can compete against these top teams, but we need to be consistent.

"That is something we will look at and hopefully we can do that next season."

Chelsea lost the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool on penalties in February before suffering the same fate at the hands of Jurgen Klopp's side in the FA Cup final earlier this month.

Nev full of praise for Conte

Gary Neville has heaped praise on Antonio Conte after Tottenham secured Champions League football yesterday.

Spurs hammered relegated Norwich 5-0 to ensure they secured fourth place in the Premier League by finishing two points ahead of arch-rivals Arsenal.

And former Manchester United and England ace Neville believes Conte deserves plaudits galore.

Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, the Sky Sports pundit said: "He's done a brilliant job at Tottenham.

"He's been assisted by the capitulation of Manchester United and the fall of Arsenal but he's done a good job and was always going to."

Ready to go

Erik ten Hag cannot wait to get stuck in to his new job as Manchester United boss.

The 52-year-old Dutchman, who brought the curtain down on his time at Ajax by winning the Eredivisie title this term, is determined to lift the gloom at Old Trafford.

He said: "I really look forward to doing this job, at this club with massive history, and we want to restore it where it belongs.

"First of all, we want to make the fans proud. Second, the current situation is obviously not that good. It's a big challenge.

"I want to build and construct a team who are battling for each other, who are unified and who will get results.

"We want to entertain. But in the end, the intention is to play fantastic football. If we can't play fantastic football, we still have to win."

Tierney left out

Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has been omitted from Scotland's squad for the World Cup play-off semi-final with Ukraine on June 1.

Tierney, 24, is recovering from knee surgery and is not ready to link up with Steve Clarke's squad.

But Everton's Nathan Patterson, who is coming back from an ankle problem, is included in a group of 28 players named by Clarke for a possible five fixtures next month.

Goalkeepers: Zander Clark (St Johnstone), Craig Gordon (Hearts), Liam Kelly (Motherwell), David Marshall (Hibernian).

Defenders: Liam Cooper (Leeds), Grant Hanley (Norwich), Jack Hendry (Brugge), Aaron Hickey (Bologna), Scott McKenna (Nottingham Forest), Stephen O'Donnell (Motherwell), Nathan Patterson (Everton), Anthony Ralston (Celtic), Andy Robertson (Liverpool), John Souttar (Rangers), Greg Taylor (Celtic).

Midfielders: Stuart Armstrong (Southampton), Lewis Ferguson (Aberdeen), Billy Gilmour (Chelsea), Ryan Jack (Rangers), John McGinn (Aston Villa), Callum McGregor (Celtic), Scott McTominay (Manchester United), David Turnbull (Celtic).

Forwards: Che Adams (Southampton), Jacob Brown (Stoke), Ryan Christie (Bournemouth), Lyndon Dykes (QPR), Ross Stewart (Sunderland).
