Perfect Power back to winning ways

Royal Ascot winner Perfect Power won the Darley Prix Morny at Deauville after turning in a great performance. 

Richard Fahey's two-year-old was victorious in the Group Two Norfolk Stakes at the royal meeting, seeing off competition from Go Bears Go. 

Following that win, he disappointed in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, getting caught up in traffic before labouring home to fifth, behind eventual winner Asymmetric. 

But he showed his potential in France with a brilliantly timed display, up against Asymmetric once more as well as fellow Royal Ascot winner Quick Suzy. 

The Ardad colt had a battle with Trident a furlong from home but was steered to victory by Christophe Soumillon. 

Fahey said: "That was nice to watch — well, he had that bit of trouble about two out, but when he got in the clear he was good. 

"He's got a proper turn of foot and his best part of the race was the end of it." 

Benbatl set for Windsor run

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor is targeting the Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor on August 28 for Benbatl's comeback. 

The multiple Group One winner has not raced since September last year when he finished third in the Shadwell Joel Stakes at Newmarket. 

Prior to that, the seven-year-old had picked up wins in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot and the Grosser Dallmayr Preis in Munich. 

He has an entry at Goodwood's Celebration Mile at the end of the month but the Goldolphin trainer favours Windsor. 

He said: "Benbatl is nearly ready to run again. He's working well and is not far away. 

"He's entered at Goodwood in the Celebration Mile and there's also a Group Three at Windsor [Winter Hill Stakes]. 

"At this stage it's more than likely he'll go to Windsor, but we'll see." 

O'Brien mulling future Santa Barbara plans

Aidan O'Brien is unsure what the future holds for Santa Barbara after her exploits in America. 

The Camelot filly has been a big success across the pond with Grade One wins at Belmont Park and Arlington Park. 

A winner on debut at Curragh in September, the three-year-old then ran in the 1000 Guineas and Cazoo Oaks, finishing fifth and fourth respectively. 

O'Brien said: "We've not really decided where she's going to run next yet, we'll just let her settle back into her routine then have a chat.

"We'd always thought the world of her at home. It's taken some time, but now she's beginning to show what we always thought she was capable of." 

Cheveley Park aim for Desert Dreamer

Stuart Williams is hoping Desert Dreamer can have a crack at the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes after her narrow defeat at York. 

She finished third in the Lowther Stakes at York with Zain Claudette taking the spoils. 

That followed a hat-trick of second places for the daughter of Oasis Dream and now Williams is hoping that some promising runs will yield a spot in the Newmarket race — a course where she won her first two races. 

Willams said: "She's come out of the race good and the plan would be to go to the Cheveley Park.

"She likes Newmarket and I think a bit easier ground might suit her as well. It was quite quick at York.

"If it was proper good ground or just on the soft side for the Cheveley Park, it might give us a little chance of turning the tables."
