Wigan Warriors will hope to maintain their lead at the top of the Super League table when they take on Hull FC on Saturday.

The Cherry and Whites have a four-point cushion over Warrington Wolves and Hull KR, but that could increase depending on the result of the Wire's game against St Helens on Friday night.

While things are looking pretty for Wigan, Hull FC are still languishing in 11th, and they will do well to improve on that in the remaining months as they are seven points behind Castleford immediately above them.

Interim Hull FC boss Simon Grix has made two changes to his 21-man squad, with Tiaki Chan unable to face his parent club, while Will Kirby drops out of the side.

Ed Chamberlain has joined on loan for the rest of the season from Leigh Leopards and gets the chance to impress ahead of a permanent move, as does fellow loanee King Vuniyayawa, who has made the switch from Salford Red Devils for the remainder of the campaign.

Wigan's Brad O'Neill returns from a one-match suspension, but Bevan French is still out with a hamstring injury and joins Jai Field, Kruise Leeming, Tom Forber and Willie Isa in the treatment room. Prop Mike Cooper misses out once again after failing a head injury assessment.

The stats

Hull FC have only won two games all season, but they will take some confidence from the fact that both of those victories came at home.

They have won two of their last six games against Wigan, and two of the four defeats have been by a one-point margin.

Wigan have set the standard all season, already lifting the Challenge Cup under Matt Peet, while they have won 10 matches in a row in all competitions.

Prediction

Wigan's injury issues are well documented, but due to the depth of their squad, they continue to churn out victories.

They secured an impressive 16-12 win over rivals St Helens last week, even without some of their best players.

In the absence of French and Field, Wigan would be excused for dropping off, but they continue to outclass teams, and that should be no different on Saturday in East Yorkshire.
