Mikel Arteta's Arsenal face a tricky trip to Fulham on Sunday afternoon
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal face a tricky trip to Fulham on Sunday afternoon

- Arsenal have won 10 of their 13 away league games this season
- Fulham have scored in five of their last six home league matches
- Recommended bet: Arsenal to win and both teams to score

Premier League leaders Arsenal had to work hard for their 2-1 home win over Fulham in August and it could be a similar story in Sunday's return fixture at Craven Cottage.

The Gunners kept their title charge on track last weekend, coming from 2-0 down to beat Bournemouth 3-2 with a 97th-minute winner from Reiss Nelson, and they had an entertaining 2-2 draw away to Sporting in the Europa League last 16 on Thursday.

Marco Silva's Fulham are having a terrific top-flight campaign despite Monday's 3-2 derby defeat at Brentford.

The Cottagers were among the pre-season favourites for relegation but they are just one short of the 40-point mark with 12 games remaining and should relish a home clash against the title contenders.

Team news

Fulham will be missing influential midfielder Joao Palinha, who is serving the second game of a two-match suspension, and Arsenal loanee Cedric Soares is ineligible to face his parent club.

Experienced midfielder Tom Cairney will be assessed but Layvin Kurzawa and Neeskens Kebano are sidelined.

Arsenal are still without the injured Gabriel Jesus and Mohamed Elneny.

Forwards Leandro Trossard and Eddie Nketiah are doubts but Martin Odegaard and Kieran Tierney should be available after illness.

The stats

Both teams have scored in 10 of Fulham's 14 matches against sides who started the weekend in the top half of the Premier League.

The Cottagers have lost all five of their league meetings with Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham and four of those defeats were by a 2-1 scoreline.

Arsenal have the best away record in the league, winning 10 of their 13 games on the road this season.

The Gunners have failed to score in only two of their first 26 Premier League fixtures this season although they have conceded the first goal of the game in five of their last eight league outings.

Prediction

Despite their midweek Europa League exertions and their attacking injury problems, Arsenal should find a way to take three points at Craven Cottage but it may not be straightforward for Mikel Arteta's men.

Fulham have lost seven of their eight games against the top six this season but they scored in five of those defeats.

Their home results in the league also include 2-1 wins over Chelsea and Brighton, a 3-2 victory against Brentford and a 2-2 draw with Liverpool so backing Arsenal to win and both teams to score looks a decent bet.

Since the World Cup, that outcome has occurred in five of the Gunners' eight league wins — including two 3-2 victories and two 4-2 successes — and their 2-2 Europa League draw in Lisbon again showcased both their attacking threat and defensive vulnerability.
