  • Swansea occupy 16th place in the Championship table

  • Stoke have won just once in their previous eight matches

  • Recommended bet: Both teams to score

Swansea City lost to Ipswich Town last time out in the Championship and that result left them in 16th place in the table.

While relegation will surely be avoided this season, the Swans will be looking to seal three points when they welcome Stoke City to the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Potters are currently 10 points adrift of a play-off spot and something miraculous will need to happen or the club to challenge for promotion, while they are just a point better off than their hosts.

They suffered defeat to leaders Coventry City last weekend, with that result coming three days after a 2-1 victory over Oxford United.

Team news

Swansea will still be without striker Adam Idah and winger Zeidane Inoussa for this clash against Stoke.

Talisman Zan Vipotnik was rested for the game against Coventry last weekend, but it looks likely that he will return to the starting XI on Saturday.

Stoke could be set to welcome back four players for the visit to south Wales. Gavin Bazunu, Divin Mubama, Sam Gallagher and Junior Tchamadeu are all back in training, but it depends on whether boss Mark Robins wishes to risk them all for this match.

Ben Pearson will need to be careful, as he is just one booking away from a suspension.

The stats

Stoke have won the previous two matches between the clubs, including a 2-1 victory at home earlier this season.

Since the start of the 2018/19 season, these clubs have faced each other 15 times, with Swansea winning four times and Stoke claiming victory on eight occasions in that period.

Both teams have scored across nine of those 15 meetings, with two or more goals being scored in all but two games.

Six of Swansea's 12 games in 2026 have featured both teams finding the back of the net, while Stoke have played 13 games in all competitions this year, with both teams scoring in six of those.

Both teams have near identical attacking records, scoring 39 and 40 goals respectively in the second tier this season.

Swansea have conceded nine more goals than their opponents, however, letting in 43 compared to Stoke's 34. That tally is the joint-best in the division.

Prediction

With only one point separating the two clubs, this match is certainly a difficult one to call.

Both teams are not exactly in great form as they aim for a mid-table position, although home advantage might prove crucial for the Swans.

Focusing on goals rather than the final result could be the best course of action for this match.

There should be plenty of action at either end of the pitch this Saturday, therefore, expect both teams to get on the scoresheet.
