Sheffield Wednesday vs Portsmouth predictions: Owls may have something to smile about

Sheffield Wednesday are 32 points adrift of safety
Portsmouth sit just a point and place outside the relegation zone
Recommended bet: Sheffield Wednesday draw no bet
Sheffield Wednesday are marooned at the bottom of the Championship following an 18-point administration deduction, but their only win of the season came against Portsmouth in September, so they will be hopeful they can get the better of Pompey again at Hillsborough on Saturday.
The visitors need points to drag themselves away from the relegation zone and wins over fellow strugglers Charlton and Blackburn have boosted their chances, but their away form is poor and they lost 5-0 at Bristol City the last time they were on their travels.

Prediction
It has got to the stage where Sheffield Wednesday would just take any positives this season, but they should view a home game against Portsmouth as one they can win and they look worthy of support in the draw-no-bet market.
The first aim has to be to move into a positive points total following their 18-point administration deduction and while they lost their last two away games 3-0 at Preston and QPR, they should have at least gained some confidence from their consecutive home draws against Blackburn and Hull.
Portsmouth are in desperate need of points if they are not to join Wednesday in League One next season, and the south-coast outfit have at least gained some vital wins over fellow strugglers Blackburn and Charlton recently.
However, both of those successes were at Fratton Park, while on the road they have gained just one point from their last six matches, culminating in a 5-0 thumping at Bristol City the last time they were on their travels.
They were not expected to fare much better than a 4-1 home defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup last week despite taking an early lead through Colby Bishop, and by being the only team the Owls have beaten in the Championship this season, they can take nothing for granted when they head to Hillsborough.
