Lescott’s column

Manchester City and Liverpool’s thrilling title race continues this weekend as they welcome Newcastle and Tottenham respectively, fresh off Champions League semi-finals of contrasting fortunes.

But with another Premier League title still in their hands, former defender Lescott is backing the Citizens to get back to business as usual with a victory over the Magpies.

The Serie A leaders face an away trip to Verona on Sunday, while Inter kick off the action at home to Empoli tonight.

The Madrid derby is this weekend’s standout game in Spain as champions Real head to bitter rivals Atletico on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Freiburg will look to keep their grip on fourth against Union Berlin as fifth-placed RB Leipzig host Augsburg.
