Brown: Kids will get a chance

Ex-Manchester United defender Wes Brown is confident the club’s youngsters will be handed the chance to impress under Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman had his first day with his players at Carrington yesterday as a number of the squad returned for pre-season.

United are yet to make any signings, meaning opportunities for the likes of James Garner, Hannibal Mejbri and Co in pre-season friendlies in the coming weeks.

Brown said: "I think, for me, the main thing is that they're going to get the chance. They will be the ones that come back early.

"I think the good thing as well, [is that] the manager, he's probably going to give them a chance.

"At Ajax he was known historically for playing youth players, bringing youth in.

"I’m pretty sure he will understand that, and he’ll want to see what they’re like in the jersey. He’ll want to see what they’re like under pressure [and] what he thinks they might be able to do in a team like he’s trying to produce.

"He will definitely give them the chances on this pre-season tour, because we’re going to have to use quite a few of them because people will be coming back late."

Gabriel Jesus has arrived at Arsenal’s training ground as he looks to complete his move from Manchester City.

The Brazilian, 25, will undergo his medical today and was pictured warmly embracing Edu when he got out the car at London Colney.

His fellow countryman is the Technical Director at the Emirates and has been instrumental in helping get the £45million move over the line.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta worked with Jesus when he was City’s assistant manager and made him his No1 target up front.

He will be the Gunners’ second signing of the summer after Fabio Vieira joined from Porto for £34m last week.

Behind the scenes at Arsenal

The first trailer for Arsenal's All or Nothing documentary, a behind the scenes look at last season, has dropped ahead of August's premiere.

The popular Amazon series returns as they spend nine months with Mikel Arteta's side as they just failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Arteta is seen referencing their poor start to the campaign, which saw them bottom of the league after three games.

It also shows dressing room speeches, celebrations and clips of Arsenal training during an eventful 2021-22 season.

The series will be out on Amazon Prime on August 4 for all subscribers to watch.

Aston Villa plan to knock down the North Stand and redevelop it to increase their capacity

Aston Villa have revealed plans to develop Villa Park and increase the capacity to more than 50,000.

The plans involve knocking down the current North Stand and replacing it with a more modern and bigger version.

Villa also want to create a large community hub behind the Trinity Road stand, which currently holds away fans and would be linked to the new development.

The club want work to start in 2023 and expect it to take two years but first they must go through a period of planning consultation.

Christian Purslow said: "We are excited to share our vision for Villa Park to become a world-class sporting venue and thriving community destination.

"It is important that we gain the feedback of our local community, fans, and organisations, as we want them to play a key role in shaping the next chapter in Villa Park’s illustrious history.

"The redevelopment of the stadium is vital to the club to satisfy growing demand.

"By elevating the hospitality offering at Villa Park, we want to enhance the matchday experience and create a year-round entertainment venue to benefit both the community and our fans."

Vincent Kompany is already enjoying being on the “other side” of Burnley after his first week in charge in Lancashire.

The ex-Man City defender, 36, was on the visiting side at Turf Moor numerous times during his career.

And now he has seen the top-class facilities Burnley have, he believes that combined with the hostile crowd is the perfect environment for success this term.

Kompany boss: "It’s incredible. I’ve been on the other side of 'you’ve got to go to Burnley and it’s a difficult place to go to' for so many years. You associate it with a darker picture just because it's difficult.

"When you come here, it's got everything of a high-performance environment. It's got everything that you would need as a young player to come through and improve.

"You add this to the fact that we do have this traditional side with the fans and with the stadium, and it's just what you need in football.

"It's an aspect of being close to the community of your club, and, at the same time, having everything you need to perform because that's what people command."
