Stream of criticism

Movie star Ryan Reynolds has criticised the National League for failing to consider allowing clubs to stream live matches domestically and internationally.

Reynolds, co-owner of Wrexham with fellow actor Rob McElhenney, had hoped to capitalise on the club’s current Disney+ documentary by making games available to a global audience.

But he claims National League officials have neglected to pursue a plan to open talks with BT, who currently own the rights to the competition in the UK, about potential streaming.

Reynolds, 45, tweeted: "After months of maximum effort, the decision to not allow domestic/international streaming of matches of Wrexham and the other clubs in the league is truly baffling.

"Depriving every team in our league the chance to expand the fanbase while adding to league revenue benefits everyone.

"This is a spotlight and a chance and we ask the @TheVanaramaNL to take it."

A club statement added: "On August 23, 2022, the club asked that the board of the National League approve an approach to BT, to secure consent for Wrexham to stream the now sold-out game against Gateshead.

"Unbelievably, the request hasn’t even been considered by the board of the National League yet, never mind a decision made.

"We will continue to push to ensure that all clubs can stream games, not just Wrexham."

Sticking around

Cristian Romero has signed a permanent contract to remain with Tottenham until 2027.

The Argentina international, 24, joined Spurs on a season-long loan from Serie A side Atalanta in August 2021 and has established himself as a key member of Antonio Conte's defence.

He has made 32 appearances for the club, helping Conte’s side secure a fourth-placed finish last season.

Romero, who began his career with Argentinian side Atletico Belgrano and has 11 senior international caps, joined Atalanta from Juventus in May 2021.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old winger, who graduated from the club's academy, has been an unused sub in the Blues' last three Premier League games.

Thomas Tuchel has the option of recalling him should he want to in January.

Willian is Ful of hope

Former Chelsea and Arsenal ace Willian is close to joining Fulham.

The Brazilian, 34, is a free agent after seeing his contract cancelled by Corinthians and is keen to return to the Premier League.

He is due to undergo a medical ahead of being added to Marco Silva's squad.

Burnley look to the future

Burnley have signed Belgium Under-21 international Anass Zaroury from Charleroi on a four-year deal.

The forward, who moves to Turf Moor for an undisclosed fee, said: "I’m very happy, very excited. It’s the first time I have moved to another country to play football.

"The project here is clear and I can’t wait to get started."

Clarets boss Vincent Kompany added: "Anass is an exciting young talent. He's a player that can run and work hard for the team while carrying great skill and goal threat."
