Liverpool have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old forward Fabio Carvalho from Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

The Portuguese attacker will officially complete his transfer to the Reds on July 1, in what is reported to be a five-year deal.

The two clubs had initially reached an agreement in January, with Carvalho having passed his medical and signed personal terms before the move collapsed on the final day of the transfer window.

The Merseysiders were able to recruit Luis Diaz and their striking options will now be further boosted by the addition of the talented teenager.

Carvalho played an instrumental role in helping the Cottagers to promotion to the Premier League this term, notching 10 goals and eight assists in 36 Championship games.

Jurgen Klopp's men missed out on the league title on Sunday, with Manchester City sealing a stunning comeback victory against Aston Villa to lift the trophy for the fourth time in five seasons.

The Anfield club will now prepare for Saturday's Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris before Carvalho joins the squad ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

With their Quadruple dreams now quashed, Liverpool must dust themselves down before aiming to complete a cup treble this term.

The Reds have already secured the Carabao Cup and FA Cup this campaign, thanks to penalty shootout wins over Chelsea, but face a stern test when they encounter LaLiga champions Real at the Stade de France.

And Los Blancos midfielder Fede Valverde has warned Klopp's outfit that they are confident of a repeat of their 2018 Champions League final triumph over the Merseysiders in Kyiv.

Mohamed Salah was forced off through injury in that showpiece and the Egyptian admitted he hoped Real beat City so he would have the chance to vanquish those demons with a revenge win.

Salah said: "I want to play Madrid. Because we lost in the final against them, I want to play against them, and hopefully win against them."

But Valverde has taken offence to these comments, replying: "I'm his opponent and it's disrespecting the Real Madrid badge, the players.

"The only thing we must do is give our best, try to show why we're in the final and let's hope we can give another trophy to the fans and to Real Madrid."
