Erik ten Hag is certain his strikers will soon find their shooting boots after seeing Manchester United edge out Luton.

The Red Devils picked up an important 1-0 win at Old Trafford thanks to Victor Lindelof's second-half strike but spurned several good opportunities prior to their opener.

Ten Hag, who came under renewed scrutiny following his side's shock 4-3 Champions League loss at FC Copenhagen in midweek, is not concerned about that profligacy in the long-term, however.

The Dutch boss said: "It's a good day. We needed that win and we got it but we could've made life more easy for ourselves.

"We created the chances but we didn't score them, apart from one. But I'm happy with that and happy with the clean sheet.

"We had four 100% chances before half-time and you should net at least one of them.

"That will come out, though. [Rasmus] Hojlund has scored five times in the Champions League, so he has the confidence. The goals will come."

Rob Edwards' Hatters were largely outplayed yet remained within touching distance of a point until the final whistle.

Visiting striker Carlton Morris did spring Andre Onana into life in the first half with a fine stop and Ten Hag admits he would like United's victories to be more convincing.

He added: "Last season was no different. It would be better for the manager, the coaches, the team for us to score early on — but if you don't, you have to keep going.

"I have to credit the team for this, they kept going, stayed organized and didn't give anything away."

After the international break, United visit Everton and Newcastle in the Premier League either side of a crunch trip to Galatasaray in Europe.

On that run, Ten Hag said: "We have to prepare for three away games in six days. All big games, so we will get ready for that.

"Hopefully some players can get fit during the international break, then get back to us.

"They will have a short time before our first game and then straight into the second game, so we have a lot of work to do now."
