Bolton opened their season in perfect fashion with a 2-1 away win at Leyton Orient through goals by Dion Charles and Victor Adeboyejo book-ending Charlie Kelman’s strike for the hosts.

It took The Trotters just seven minutes to go ahead when Aaron Collins pulled the ball back into his fellow striker’s path and Charles squeezed the ball past O’s debutant keeper Zach Hemming from outside the box.

For a while, Bolton dominated but after O’s midfielder Zech Obiero crashed a shot from 22 yards against the crossbar, the O’s sprung to life.

After 38 minutes they levelled when Kelman controlled a long pass out of defence from Dan Happe and drew keeper Nathan Baxter before drilling the ball low into the corner of the net.

Orient started the second half brightly with Kelman and Jordan Brown going close but it was substitute Adeboyejo who settled the issue on 75 minutes.

He had only been on the pitch for 30 seconds when Hemming spilled a set-piece and the ball fell to the one-time O’s marksman who slammed the ball home from six yards.
