Patrick Vieira’s second-half substitutes proved a masterstroke as Crystal Palace fought back from two goals down to draw with Leicester.

Michael Olise and Jeffrey Schlupp both found the back of the net after coming on to cancel out Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vady’s strikes before the break.

But the French boss, who remains unbeaten at home, believes his side did more than enough to pick up all three points.

He said: "I am disappointed because I think we created enough chances to win the game.

"Going 2-0 down at half time was a bit harsh on us, we created enough chances but didn't take them.

“At the other end they had half chances that we gave to them and they took them."

Olise’s left footed effort from the edge of the box put the wheels in motion, before Schlupp’s 72nd minute finish completes a second-half turnaround for the Eagles.

Though the Palace manager made the call to bring both on, Vieira was quick to turn the praise back on to the players.

"They came on for the position of Jordan [Ayew] and Conor [Gallagher], those two players have been training really well and they were waiting for the opportunity to show how good they are.

“Today they came on and scored and they brought energy as well.”

The Eagles had found themselves 2-0 down at the break, after Iheanacho netted on his 25th birthday after dispossessing Joachim Andersen.

Vardy then doubled the Foxes lead with his sixth goal of the season, but Brendan Rodgers’ men would ultimately have to share the points.

Did you know?

The Eagles are unbeaten in the Premier League at Selhurst Park since Vieira took charge (P4 W1 D3).

Vardy has now scored 90 goals in the Premier League since turning 30 years old, just three fewer than Ian Wright (93) as the player with the most goals in the competition after his 30th birthday.

Aged 19 years and 295 days, Olise is the first teenager to score for Palace in the Premier League since Clinton Morrison in May 1998.

Leicester failed to win a Premier League game in which they were ahead at half time by 2+ goals for the first time since October 2003 (4-3 defeat v Wolves).

Schlupp's equaliser came just 48 seconds after coming off the bench; the second-quickest goal by a substitute in the Premier League this season, after teammate Odsonne Edouard (29 seconds v Spurs).
