- Coventry have won seven of their last nine home league matches
- West Brom are without a win in 13 away games in the Championship
- Recommended bet:
Coventry to win

It does not get much bigger than this in terms of securing a place in the Championship play-offs as sixth-placed Coventry host West Brom, who are currently their nearest pursuers in the table.

With four games to go, the Sky Blues have a three-point cushion over the seventh-placed Baggies, who should see this as a must-win encounter given that time is running out.

But with Middlesbrough and Millwall also hot on the heels of Coventry, this is not simply a fixture that either side can settle for avoiding defeat in.

Frank Lampard’s men have excelled on home soil of late, winning seven of their last nine games on their own patch in the Championship, whereas Albion have struggled on their travels, failing to win any of their last 13.

Team news

Hosts Coventry remain without Swedish goalkeeper Oliver Dovin, home-grown midfielder Josh Eccles and former West Brom forward Brandon Thomas-Asante.

Bobby Thomas and Ephron Mason-Clark were both absent from Monday’s 1-1 draw with Hull and will face late fitness tests ahead of this crunch clash.

The Baggies, meanwhile, are still missing defender Semi Ajayi and midfielders Ousmane Diakite and Jed Wallace.

Star striker Josh Maja has been sidelined since the start of January while Jayson Molumby is suspended following his red card in the 2-1 defeat at Bristol City.

Coventry have won 12 of their 21 home league games this season, with only Leeds and Sheffield United having secured more victories on their own patch.

The Sky Blues have lost only five of their last 20 Championship clashes, while they have won seven of their last nine at home.

West Brom have won only one of their last 18 away games, failing to triumph in any of their last 13 on the road in the league.

Both teams have scored in seven of Coventry’s last 10 league matches.

Both teams have scored in 10 of West Brom’s last 12 away league outings.

West Brom have won their last fourChampionship meetings with Coventry.

Prediction

Both teams will see this as a must-win encounter in their bid to secure a place in the end-of-season Championship play-offs, and home advantage could be key for Coventry.

The Sky Blues would have been frustrated to have been held to a 1-1 draw at struggling Hull on Monday but they have won seven of their last nine at home, losing only to top two Leeds and Burnley in that period.

West Brom snapped a three-game losing streak with their 2-1 win at home to Watford on Saturday, but their form away from The Hawthorns paints a worrying picture.

Tony Mowbray’s men have failed to win any of their last 13 league games on the road, which has included back-to-back defeats at Norwich and Bristol City.
