Blackburn will look to take advantage of a managerless Cardiff when they head to Wales in the Championship on Tuesday.

Cardiff pulled the trigger on head coach Steve Morrison last month after a 1-0 loss to fellow strugglers Huddersfield left them sitting 18th in the standings.

Interim boss Mark Hudson oversaw a 1-1 draw at home to Burnley on Saturday and they face another test on Tuesday when Blackburn come to town.

Rovers head to the Cardiff City Stadium sitting sixth and showing plenty of qualities to suggest they could be play-off contenders.

Jon Dahl Tomasson watched his side get back on the winning path last time out, beating Millwall 2-1 at Ewood Park, and he will be keen to continue building momentum.

Team news

Hudson has several injury concerns to contend with heading into this clash, with academy graduate Rubin Colwill set to miss out once again.

Summer arrival Kion Etete has been absent since August with an ankle injury and remains sidelined for this one.

Ebou Adams, who signed from Forest Green over the summer, is yet to feature for the Bluebirds due to a pec injury and his availability is still some way down the line, while Isaak Davies is still recovering from a knee injury.

Nigeria international Jamilu Collins will not feature again this season following surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Blackburn boss Tomasson, with Sam Barnes the only absentee.

Sam Gallagher came back into the fold against Millwall and could make his second successive start, while Clinton Mola has also reported a clean bill of health and should earn a spot on the bench.

The stats

Cardiff have picked up the majority of their points (8) on home soil this season with just one loss recorded from their five outings at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Blackburn have also performed better in home surroundings this season, winning two and losing three on the road, however, one of those away victories did come in Wales when they beat Swansea 3-0.

Ben Brereton-Diaz has once again been Blackburn's most potent asset with the Chile international scoring five times.

Rovers are unbeaten in their last three visits to Cardiff — winning two and drawing one — and they have scored at least two goals in two of those outings.

Prediction

Cardiff showed spirit in Hudson's first game in charge as interim boss, scoring a 90th-minute equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw, but backing that performance up against Blackburn could prove tough.

Rovers do not have a fantastic away record to lean on but they can take confidence from a 3-0 win at Swansea earlier in the term.

History also favours the Lancashire club after they won home and away against Cardiff last season, and another victory looks on the cards.

Goals have been at a premium when Cardiff have hosted this campaign, with under 2.5 goals landing in four of their five outings, and another low-scoring affair looks likely.
